E-BLAST: Commonwealth Court decides in favor of equitable school funding

I’m happy to report that last week in a historic case, Commonwealth Court ruled in favor of Pennsylvania school advocates seeking to balance funding for all schools across the state. This case was originally filed in 2014 and included plaintiffs from Delco’s own William Penn School District. The case was filed on behalf of parents, school districts, and statewide organizations who argued that the commonwealth’s funding of K-12 public education is inadequate and violates the Pennsylvania Constitution. Krueger announces funding for area fire, EMS companies

HARRISBURG, Feb. 7 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware announced $173,715 in state funding to support fire and EMS services in the 161 st Legislative District. The grants originate from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner. Krueger said the money can be used for facility upgrades, equipment, debt reduction, training and certification, education and public outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts. “Congratulations to these hard-working firefighters who keep our communities safe in the face of danger,” Krueger said. “When lives are on the line, it’s vital that we support fire and EMS operations with as many avenues for funding as possible – aiding their efforts to reduce the loss of life and property in our communities.” Below are the companies in the 161 st District and their funding amounts. Use : To support a Recovery-Oriented-System of Care (ROSC) by establishing a Recovery Hub and Spoke model. Funds : Nine grants up to $500,000 each will be awarded.. Krueger takes oath for another term as state representative

HARRISBURG, Jan. 3 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger took the oath of office in the state Capitol today for another term representing the 161 st Legislative District in Delaware County. The noon swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 2023-24 session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. “I am humbled the people of the 161 st district have put their trust in me to represent them for another term,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “For the first time in more than a decade, the Democratic Party is in the majority, and we have an opportunity to create real change for Pennsylvanians. I am excited to advocate for the issues that impact our community.” Krueger made history in 2015 as the first woman elected to represent the district. She said she will continue to work to protect access to health care, stand up for clean air and water, and support fire and emergency services.
