Krueger Resolution Designating Oct. 3 ‘Kids Music Day’ Adopted by PA House

Harrisburg, Oct. 1 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger today announced the adoption of H.R. 299, which designates Oct. 3 “Kids Music Day” in Pennsylvania.

Krueger introduced the resolution to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kids Music Day, founded by Keep Music Alive, a Brookhaven-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting music as an educational, therapeutic, and social medium.

Keep Music Alive has partnered with educators, schools, nonprofits, and businesses locally and statewide to bring music education to new students through free lessons, open houses, performances, and “instrument pettings zoos,” events in which kids can try out a variety of musical instruments to see which they’d like to learn.

“Music brings people of all walks of life together and provides many with a creative outlet for the stresses we face each day,” said Krueger. “This resolution doesn’t just honor Keep Music Alive for Brookhaven but seeks to bring awareness of the good music can do for our communities throughout the commonwealth.

“As legislators, we should support families, educators, and arts advocates and the positive impacts they have on our residents – especially our children. Bolstering music education, and any arts education, strengthens our cultural heritage and inspires our kids to think innovatively about their futures. I am proud to see this resolution approved and grateful to Keep Music Alive for their commitment to arts in our county and beyond.”

House Resolution 299 was adopted today 200-3.
