Dear Neighbors:
With the Eagles gearing up to play in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, it's an exciting time for the area. While we're all cheering them on, I also wanted to share some important local updates with you. These include a special opportunity to help you prepare for the upcoming REAL ID enforcement deadline, details about a Bucks County Teacher Recruitment Fair, and a reminder about my upcoming Shred Event to help protect your personal information.
Additionally, earlier this week, Governor Shapiro delivered his annual budget address, outlining a clear vision for Pennsylvania’s future. His proposal focuses on continuing the progress made in recent years, with a strong emphasis on fair funding for schools, reducing costs for working families, supporting economic growth, and strengthening our communities.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding state government. You may do so simply by replying to this email, or by calling my office at (215) 323-6997.

REAL ID Service Hours in Huntingdon Valley
|
PennDOT is providing a special opportunity to help Pennsylvanians prepare for the upcoming federal REAL ID enforcement deadline of May 7. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, PennDOT will hold extended service hours at the Huntingdon Valley Driver License Center, located at 2022 County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley.
Beginning on May 7, you will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card (or another form of federally accepted ID) for the following:
- Boarding domestic commercial flights.
- Entering a federal facility that requires ID at the door.
- Accessing military bases.
REAL ID is part of post-September 11 regulations designed to enhance security and ensure uniform standards for identification across the country.
Important: A standard driver’s license or ID card is not an acceptable alternative for these federal purposes.
Key details:
- If you do not obtain a REAL ID, you will need an alternate form of federally acceptable identification (e.g., passport, military ID).
- REAL IDs are not required for general activities such as:
- Driving.
- Accessing hospitals, the post office, or federal courts.
- Applying for or receiving federal benefits (e.g., Social Security, veterans' benefits).
- Voting.
To obtain a REAL ID, you must visit a PennDOT Driver Licensing Center in person with the required documents for verification. Any PennDOT Driver Licensing Center can process your REAL ID, but for over-the-counter service, you’ll need to visit a REAL ID Center. At a regular Driver License Center, your documents will be verified and imaged, and your REAL ID will be mailed to you within 15 business days. In contrast, at a REAL ID Center, you’ll receive your REAL ID immediately at the time of service.
PennDOT does not offer a process for uploading documents remotely, and no websites are affiliated with PennDOT for submitting documents online.
For a list of documents needed and other instructions on obtaining a REAL ID or for alternatives to REAL ID, please see PennDOT’s webpage on the subject.

Governor’s budget address
|
As we begin the budget process for this year, Governor Shapiro has put forward a common-sense budget proposal that takes a thoughtful approach to balancing the needs of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and the Commonwealth as a whole, all while prioritizing fiscal responsibility. This is just the first step in the process, and I will continue to closely monitor the discussions to ensure that we craft the best budget possible.
The Governor’s proposal builds on last year’s significant funding plan to ensure equitable access to a quality education for every child, regardless of where they live. At the same time, it works to reduce the financial burden on local taxpayers. It aligns with our shared priority of adequately funding our schools while also supporting our future teachers, a critical asset for the Commonwealth.
In addition, we recognize the need to grow our economy to ensure a prosperous future. This budget cuts taxes to support businesses and encourages job creation while holding large, multi-state corporations accountable to pay their fair share. The proposal also includes key investments in mass transit and transportation infrastructure, both of which are essential to supporting our workforce and the economy.
Looking ahead, it’s crucial that we continue to invest in the programs and services that make our communities strong. The Governor’s budget streamlines services, proposes new revenue streams, and cuts costs — all without raising taxes.
I appreciate that Governor Shapiro has put forward a plan that focuses on the needs of all Pennsylvanians, and I look forward to working with him and his administration throughout the upcoming budget hearings to ensure we get the best possible outcome for our state and our communities.
