Dear Neighbors,
I hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to share some important updates and resources that are currently available to our community. This week, we had a productive discussion with many of you about potential mass transit solutions, and I’m looking forward to continuing those conversations in the weeks ahead.
Additionally, there are a variety of services and opportunities that my staff and I wanted to share with you, including free tax preparation assistance, support for making informed Medicare choices, and exciting art contests for local artists and students.
Please read on for more details about these initiatives and how you can take advantage of these available resources.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding state government. You may do so simply by replying to this email, or by calling my office at (215) 323-6997.

Working on a mass transit solution
|
Earlier this week, we held a Q&A session at Centennial Station to discuss the possibility of bringing the Doylestown Area Regional Transit (DART) system to Warminster. A key concern voiced by community members was the lack of transportation options. DART would provide $1 transportation for seniors.
Warminster Township Chairman Kenneth Hayes and members of the DART board were in attendance.
My staff and I are planning additional sessions at various locations throughout the area. We will update when we have further information.

Help selecting a Medicare Advantage plan
|
The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is reminding older adults that the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs through March 31. During this time, beneficiaries can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or return to original Medicare. Changes will take effect on the first of the month following enrollment.
PA MEDI, the state's Medicare counseling program, is available through the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging to help beneficiaries with their Medicare choices. Trained counselors offer free, unbiased assistance, helping individuals compare plans, find cost-saving programs, and make informed decisions about their healthcare options.
Medicare Advantage plans are provided by private companies and combine hospital, medical, and drug coverage. These plans may change annually in terms of costs, coverage, and provider networks, so it's important to review options. PA MEDI counselors can guide beneficiaries through the process, offering personalized support. For more information, call the PA MEDI Helpline at 1-800-783-7067.

As a Navy veteran, I’m proud to share that thanks to a bipartisan effort, there are new benefits for veterans in Pennsylvania.
Under a new law, certain veterans are now eligible for free vehicle registration and titling fees. This includes veterans who:
- Lost a limb or eye or became partially paralyzed during service
- Were captured by the enemy in any armed conflict for which the Department of Defense issued a campaign medal
- Have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
- Have been awarded the Purple Heart
This is just one of the many ways we can show our gratitude for the sacrifices you made for our country. If you believe you qualify or need help with the application process, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at (215) 323-6997.
For more information about driver licensing and vehicle services for veterans, visit PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dmv.html.

Local artists have a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and support important causes through two exciting art contests. The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hosting the 2026 Working Together for Wildlife Art Contest, and the Departments of Health, Education, Environmental Protection, and Conservation and Natural Resources are sponsoring the 2025 Lyme Disease Student Art Contest. Both contests offer participants the chance to raise awareness about vital environmental and public health issues while gaining recognition for their artistic contributions. Below are the details for each contest.
The first contest is the Pennsylvania Game Commission's 2026 Working Together for Wildlife Art Contest, which invites artists to submit original artwork featuring barn owls. Entries must be received by May 2, and the selected artwork will be featured in the 2026 fine art print series, with the winning artist receiving $5,000 and 50 signed artist proofs. The contest is open to Pennsylvania residents, and all submissions must be sent electronically to rebawillia@pa.gov. Artists can enter multiple pieces, with a $50 nonrefundable entry fee for each submission (artists 18 and younger can enter for free). Further contest details can be found here.
The second contest is the 2025 Lyme Disease Student Art Contest, which invites first through sixth-grade students across Pennsylvania to create a poster or video focusing on the theme “Protect. Check. Remove.” This contest aims to raise awareness about Lyme disease and prevention, particularly regarding tick bites. Entries are due by March 14. Finalists will be invited to an award ceremony at the State Capitol in May, and the top winners will have their artwork featured in a 2025 calendar. The contest is supported by multiple state departments, including Health, Education, Environmental Protection, and Conservation and Natural Resources. More information on the contest can be found here.
Both contests offer valuable opportunities for individuals to engage with important environmental and public health issues while gaining recognition for their artistic talents. We encourage both artists and students to participate and help raise awareness in their communities.
