Quick action restores heat at Rosewood Apartments

When a community member reached out about a heat outage at the Rosewood Apartments in Warminster on Dec. 21, my staff and I immediately recognized the urgency of the situation, especially with the cold temperatures over the weekend. Ensuring the well-being of our residents became a top priority.

I quickly coordinated with township Supervisor Ken Hayes, fire officials, and Bucks County Commissioner Diane Marseglia to address the issue. In the meantime, apartment management provided residents with space heaters to temporarily alleviate the cold.

By Monday, Dec. 23, the heat was fully restored, ensuring that all affected units were comfortable and secure during the cold snap.

We are committed to responding swiftly to community needs and ensuring that residents have the support they require in critical situations.

For further inquiries or assistance, please contact my office at (215) 323-6997 or RepMunroe@pahouse.net. We are here to assist you!

Lowering your heating bill

Speaking of home heating, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is encouraging natural gas customers to take steps now to manage heating costs. The PUC has created a Winter Utility Bill Checklist to help consumers reduce energy usage, save on heating costs, and access assistance programs if needed.

Winter Utility Bill Checklist:

  • Review Your Utility Bills – Understand your energy usage and the rates you're being charged.
  • Understand the Impact of Winter Weather – Colder temperatures increase heating demands, which can raise costs.
  • Check Your Natural Gas Price – Compare your utility’s Price to Compare with competitive supplier offers.
  • Save Energy Where You Can – Small adjustments like lowering your thermostat and sealing drafts can make a significant impact.
  • Call Utilities for Help – If you're struggling with bills, contact your utility to learn about assistance programs like CAPs, LIHEAP, and more.

The PUC also offers tips for saving energy, including servicing your furnace, adjusting your water heater, and using ceiling fans to circulate warm air.

For more detailed information and resources, including how to compare natural gas suppliers, visit this link.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office for additional details.

Stay warm and take action now to manage your winter heating costs.

Helping those with disabilities

Every five years, the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council is required to create a state plan to guide its work. Creating the plan involves gathering information about the current barriers and concerns faced by individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in Pennsylvania. One way it collects information is by seeking input from Pennsylvania residents with developmental disabilities, their families and other involved parties. The PDDC created this survey for that purpose.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. PDDC will use the information from your response to help develop its next state plan. If you have questions or need help completing the survey, please reach out by email to the Council at: ra-pwpaddc@pa.gov or you can call the Council at 717-787-6057 or 1-877-685-4452.

Getting ready for Real ID

As the May 7 deadline approaches, please be reminded that you will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card (or another form of federally accepted ID) for the following:

  • Boarding domestic commercial flights
  • Entering a federal facility that requires ID at the door
  • Accessing military bases

REAL ID is part of post-September 11 regulations designed to enhance security and ensure uniform standards for identification across the country.

Important: A standard driver’s license or ID card is not an acceptable alternative for these federal purposes.

Key details:

  • If you do not obtain a REAL ID, you will need an alternate form of federally acceptable identification (e.g., passport, military ID).
  • REAL IDs are not required for general activities such as:
    • Driving
    • Voting
    • Accessing hospitals, the post office, or federal courts
    • Applying for or receiving federal benefits (e.g., Social Security, veterans' benefits)

To obtain a REAL ID, you must visit a PennDOT Driver Licensing Center in person with the required documents for verification. PennDOT does not offer a process for uploading documents remotely, and no websites are affiliated with PennDOT for submitting documents online.

For a list of documents needed and other instructions on obtaining a REAL ID or for alternatives to REAL ID, please see PennDOT’s webpage on the subject.
