Pushing for a new tax credit for working people

Dear Neighbor,

You may be familiar with the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Well, I’m proud to say that my colleagues and I in the PA House just passed a state version of that for the Commonwealth.

It’s called the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit.

If you’re a working person but still have a lower or moderate income, you would receive a tax credit of up to 30% of what the Federal EITC gives you. For example, a $2,000 federal tax credit would result in an additional $600 tax credit from the state.

You don’t need to have kids to qualify for this, but if you do have kids, you’ll get more back. If you have three or more kids, you may get nearly $2,300 back in your pocket.

With the cost of living still rising, this program would provide some much-needed relief to an estimated 1 million Pennsylvanians. No one should be struggling to afford groceries or the electric bill, especially when they work full time.

Now I will continue to persuade my colleagues in the Pennsylvania Senate to do the right thing and pass this helpful legislation.

Sincerely,

Pennsylvania State Rep. David M. Delloso
