Munroe receives clean bill of health after cancer diagnosis

WARMINSTER, Oct. 26 – State Rep. Brian Munroe announced he has received a clean bill of health after treatment for an earlier cancer diagnosis. He made the announcement during a subcommittee on Security & Emergency Response Readiness meeting today.

Munroe said he was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2019. After undergoing five months of chemotherapy, he was declared to be in full remission.

After he was sworn as state representative in January, he was diagnosed with a different form of the cancer than he had in 2019, but it was not as aggressive and equally as treatable.

Even with a hectic schedule of tests, lab work, scans, medical procedures, Munroe has not missed a day of work and has been able to attend every session day in Harrisburg and every public event and in-district meeting.

In fact, Munroe said, one day in January, he had significant medical procedure and was driven by a friend to Harrisburg so that he could be on the House floor two hours after being in post-op to vote to help protect survivors of sexual assault.

In mid-July, during the summer break, Munroe was treated with a cutting-edge medical technology called CAR T cell at Penn hospital. He spent two weeks in the hospital and another week recuperating at home.

“I cannot thank the nurses at Penn, my doctor at Penn, Dr. Stefan Barta, or Dr. Willard Andrews at Abington Jefferson, enough for all of their hard work and commendable efforts, not just for me, but for everyone in their community,” Munroe said.

On Monday, Munroe had his follow-up with his physician and said he can happily report he is in full remission.
