Dear Neighbors,
It’s been a hot one! I hope all of you were able to stay cool during the last several days of extreme heat. While the excessive heat warning for our area ended Wednesday, I wanted to remind you of public-access buildings you can go to if the heat becomes unbearable again this summer. Great places to access air conditioning are:
- Public libraries
- Senior centers
- Indoor malls or shopping centers – many malls open their doors to walkers/strollers earlier than the retail spaces open, to allow people a cool place to get mild exercise
If we experience another heatwave, be sure to check your township’s website or social media accounts for additional cooling centers they might open. And if you do use a public space, please remember to be respectful of their rules and expectations.
This week in Harrisburg, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that would help our neighbors and improve our communities:
- We’re protecting your health by restoring dental coverage within the Medical Assistance Program (HB 583), ensuring that day care facilities can obtain prescriptions for and maintain a constant supply of EPI pens (HB 928) and ensuring that an insurance company cannot deny coverage for care that is received from a health care provider solely because it is provided in a school setting (HB 1445).
- We’re protecting children and teens from illicit vape products by requiring a public directory managed by the Office of Attorney General that lists all approved and certified electronic cigarette manufacturers and products and requiring manufacturers to submit certification forms that confirm their compliance with federal regulations to the attorney general's office prior to selling e-cigarettes (HB 1425).
- We’re supporting and leveling the playing field for local businesses by requiring multi-state corporations to use?combined reporting?to determine their tax responsibilities beginning with tax year 2026 (HB 1610).

Welcome My Summer Interns!
|
My district office interns came to Harrisburg this week to shadow me for a day and learn what we do on session days. Jake Notte is a rising senior at Penn State University Park studying real estate and business law; Alex Dash is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania studying history and political science and aspires to work in state government; and Arjan Bajwa is going into his junior year at Council Rock High School South, and aspires to learn more about politics and the law.
They’ll be helping at the Street Road office and attending community events with us all summer, so be sure to say hi!

Senate Hearing on House Bill 1405
|
On Tuesday, the PA Senate Education Committee voted unanimously to advance my legislation making it easier for veterans to become public school CTE teachers! The bill updates state teaching certificate requirements so that 4 or more years of military experience in a career and technical education field counts toward obtaining their certificate. With a teacher shortage plaguing Pennsylvania, this bill isn’t just good for vets – it’s good for the public school system, too. Watch the video to hear my remarks on the bill.

PennDOT Meeting Promises Overdue Road Repairs
|
This week I also had a meeting with PennDOT in Harrisburg after hearing from so many of you about the condition of many of the state roads in our area. Please know that your voices have been heard, and I’m working diligently to get the repair and maintenance you deserve for our communities. PennDOT agreed to repairs on Street Road between the intersections of Route 611 and Lower State Road; construction is expected to begin within the next thirty days!
