Standing room only at my town hall on cell phones in schools
|

|
Turnout was great for my town hall on cell phones in schools this week at Cooper-Siegel Community Library. I was happy to see so many parents, students, and school board members in attendance who care about this issue. Thank you to all of the panelists who provided our community with valuable insight into why unfettered access to devices creates an unhealthy learning environment for our children.
You can see more photos of the event here and read news coverage of the event here.
My bipartisan H.B. 1814, currently pending in the House Education Committee, would require all public schools in Pennsylvania to restrict student cell phone possession and use during the school day, with exceptions for certain emergency and medical needs approved by school authorities. If enacted, Pennsylvania would join more than 20 other states that prohibit student phone use during the school day.
If you missed this in-person event you can watch a recording of it below.
