My Senior Fair is coming up soon

I’m excited about my annual Senior Fair on Friday, Sept. 25. It will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Allegheny Valley Volunteer Fire Company, 851 Parkway Dr., Harwick. We’ll offer flu shots and blood pressure checks, help with various services and programs, and a hot, to-go meal. I hope to see you there!

Partnering with the county to help you with
tax and licensing matters

On Monday, Sept. 14, a representative from the Office of Allegheny County Treasurer Erica Rocchi Brusselars will be at my office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help residents with a variety of tax and licensing matters. You can pay county property taxes, apply for the Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion or Senior Citizen Tax Relief programs, or obtain hunting, fishing, or dog licenses. I encourage residents to take advantage of these special hours at my office, located at 1296 Pittsburgh St.

Unclaimed property: $119K and counting

So far in 2026, my office has helped local residents get more than $119K of their own money back from the state's Unclaimed Property Program. The money often comes from closed bank accounts, insurers, utilities and medical facilities, and it's often unclaimed because of misspelled names or incorrect addresses. In fact, one in ten Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property, with the average claim exceeding $1,000.

To see if you have unclaimed property waiting for you, visit here. And feel free to reach out to my staff for help. My staff makes calls weekly to constituents who have unclaimed property, and we are happy to assist you in getting that money!

Check out the Children’s Museum’s Slow Tech Festival

As an advocate of screen-free activities for children, I encourage you to check out the upcoming Slow Tech Festival. It will offer strategies and opportunities that serve as alternatives to smartphones. It will be Sept. 20 at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 Children's Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. The museum is partnering with PA Unplugged, a great advocacy group.
