Incoming Legislation for Pennsylvania's State Game Lands, Remembering Fallen Police Chief Justin McIntire, and more...

INCOMING LEGISLATION FOR PENNSYLVANIA’S STATE GAME LANDS

I am working diligently on HB 1811, which would remove the $400 per acre cap for purchasing new game lands in 53 of our 67 counties. I’ll always be an advocate for conservation, and this bill would mean more land protected forever. We owe a great debt of gratitude to PA’s hunters, their dollars fund conservation in a big way.

MY UPCOMING SHRED EVENT

I will be hosting a Shred Event on October 4th, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at my Cheswick District Office, located at 1296 Pittsburgh Street, Cheswick, PA 15024. Bring your old paperwork containing sensitive information, and it will be safely and securely shredded on-site.

PENNSYLVANIA FEDERATION OF SPORTSMEN AND CONSERVATIONISTS 2025 LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR

This week, the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists presented me with a beautiful plaque in recognition of being named the 2025 Legislator of the Year. I am truly honored to receive this award. It is a great privilege to work on behalf of Pennsylvania’s hunters, and it brings me genuine joy.

SPENDING MY BIRTHDAY IN THE CAPITOL

This week, I spent my birthday at the Capitol, away from my family, but I was surrounded by amazing colleagues who kept my spirits high as we went into Session. Pictured are a few who decided to sing me a little birthday song!

REMEMBERING FALLEN POLICE CHIEF JUSTIN MCINTIRE

My phone has been ringing off the hook with calls and text messages from police officers across the state conveying support for my HB 1866 and their sadness that it did not pass the House on Wednesday.

This bill is very important to me, to the family of fallen hero Police Chief Justin McIntire, to our police officers, and to many in our district who have mourned Justin. Unfortunately, the bill failed by just one vote.

Please, take the time to watch.

CONCERNS ABOUT THE DATA CENTERS IN SPRINGDALE

I have been meeting with residents who are concerned about the data center proposal in Springdale.

State Representatives do not have the authority to vote on specific projects like data centers. That responsibility falls to elected officials at the Borough and Township level, who decide which areas are zoned for which uses.

That said, Borough and Township officials have incredibly difficult—and often thankless—jobs. Our officials are very capable, some of the best I have known. They are carefully reviewing this proposal, but they are bound by a course of action if a project meets zoning standards. Local leaders should—and do—insist that any proposal meets the ordinance and adheres to the strictest standards for environmental protection and community safety.

In Harrisburg, we are working in a bipartisan manner to create legislation that will help protect communities by establishing frameworks around data centers. This legislation will ensure guidelines for environmental factors, water management, grid stability, transparency, and protections for ratepayers.

I do not have a vote on this project, but if it is approved, I will work tirelessly with developers, builders, and residents to ensure the best outcomes for our community. I will continue to fight for us at the state level and collaborate with local partners to get the most possible benefit for our area.

Please continue sharing your thoughts with me—it is important that I hear from you.
