Rep. Greg Scott October 3, 2025 | 9:21 AM
Harrisburg, Oct. 3 – State Representative Greg Scott, D-Montgomery, today celebrated the adoption of a House resolution designating October 3 “Sharon L. Cullen Day” in Pennsylvania.
The day honors the memory of a woman who had a significant impact on the Montgomery County community. Sharon L. Cullen was a longtime Montgomery County employee who also founded the Montgomery County Hero Fund, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting first responders and their families in times of crisis, following the loss of Plymouth Township Officer Brad Fox in 2012.
Outside of the Hero Fund, Sharon organized fundraisers to support the families of firefighters who developed cancer and made herself available to anyone who needed guidance and support. She was a community leader, public servant and dedicated supporter of first responders throughout the county.
Sharon died on July 29, 2025, at the age of 59. During her career with Montgomery County, she served in the DA’s Office, the County Commissioners’ Office and finally as the director of Parking Facilities and Fleet Management.?
“I met Sharon Cullen the day I walked into the Montgomery County courthouse, as a judge, for the first time. I was 27 years old,” said Scott. “Something I was wearing kept setting off the magnetometers at security. I was young, nervous and unknown to many. Sharon walked through, looked back, grabbed my hand and walked me though. She had that kind of impact on thousands over the course of her life, and she deserves this honor.”
HR 321, Sharon L. Cullen Day, was adopted Oct. 1 by a vote of 199-4.
