In recent weeks, I have had the privilege of participating in a series of hearings, meetings, and site visits focused on one of the most important responsibilities we share: protecting and improving the physical and mental health of Pennsylvanians. These conversations were not easy, but they were deeply necessary, and I want to share with you what we’ve learned and where we go from here. Read more
I love the moments that create wonderful reminders of why I am so proud to represent our community. From celebrating achievements in early childhood education to supporting families in need, and connecting with local business leaders and healthcare professionals, I have seen firsthand the strength and compassion that make our district shine. On Tuesday, Oct. 7, members of the PA House Energy Committee toured Cordia Energy’s Bruce Mangione Steam Plant in Harrisburg, where they got a closer look at the sustainable infrastructure that powers the Capitol Complex and much of Harrisburg. Read more
This week as we returned to Session, we marked an unfortunate milestone. Pennsylvania has now gone one hundred days without a budget, making us the only state in the nation without one. This is unacceptable. For months, the House has worked to present responsible budget proposals and compromises. Just this week, we passed another balanced plan in an effort to move the process forward. Yet the Senate Majority has refused to bring any meaningful proposal to a vote, offering only a flat funded budget. Even President Pro Tempore Kim Ward admitted what we have been saying all along: the Senate Majority does not have the 26 votes to pass any bill. Read more
I hope this message finds you well. This week marked our return to Session following the August recess. Typically, I provide a comprehensive summary of the legislation we’ve advanced to the Senate in the week following Session. However, since we are heading into back-to-back Session weeks, you can expect that full update in my October 17th email. This will allow me the necessary time to draft thorough summaries and provide you with a complete and accurate picture of our legislative progress. Read more
This past month has been a powerful reminder of what makes our community so special. We came together to honor our veterans, celebrate a remarkable historical connection, and take bold steps toward shaping our future. First, thank you to everyone who joined us at our Veterans Expo. It was a meaningful day filled with connection, support, and heartfelt appreciation. To every veteran who attended, whether newly transitioned or long retired, we are deeply grateful for your service and sacrifice. You gave so much to our country, and it was our privilege to create a space where we could give back to you. Read more
This past week, we came together once again to mark Patriots’ Day. Although the calendar has moved on, the meaning of this day should remain with us. It is not just a date to remember, but a call to reflect and recommit ourselves to the values that carried us through one of our darkest chapters. I had the honor of joining our community for a heartfelt memorial celebration where the Hatboro-Horsham marching band performed a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. I was grateful for the opportunity to share a few moments discussing the significance of 9/11, a day that is etched into our collective memory. Read more
A few weeks ago, I shared the devastating news of the fire at Mitzvah Circle, a beloved organization that has been a lifeline for so many, providing dignity, comfort, and essential items to families in crisis. The damage to their space is heartbreaking, and the loss of over $1.2 million worth of items is staggering. Honestly, the pictures cannot even begin to capture how awful this was or convey what a huge blow it was to our community, which depends on the incredible work of Mitzvah Circle. Read more
I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates about the work I’ve been doing in our district, connecting with local leaders, supporting community initiatives, and championing opportunities that uplift and empower. Read more
It has been a meaningful and energizing few weeks, and I wanted to share some of the incredible conversations, events, and partnerships that continue to shape our work together, but first I must share the devastating news of the fire at Mitzvah Circle. This organization has been a lifeline for many; providing dignity, comfort, and essential items to families in crisis. To see their space damaged by fire is heartbreaking. Read more
This month, we bid a bittersweet farewell to someone whose presence has shaped our office from the very beginning. Leza Perkins, our full-time Constituent Service Advisor, will be retiring on August 28th after faithfully serving our community since we first opened our doors in January 2023, and the people of the Commonwealth for nearly 27 remarkable years—19 with the House of Representatives and as a teacher. This week, my House colleagues and I reconvened in Harrisburg for a rare Sunday and Monday session to vote on a critical piece of legislation, HB 1788. This marks the fifth House-passed bill this budget session aimed at resolving the public transit funding crisis which threatens to disrupt the lives of thousands of Pennsylvanians. Read more
Unfortunately, I am still unable to provide an update on the budget as the state Senate has refused to return to Harrisburg to do the job they were elected to do. While this is beyond frustrating and discouraging, I do have some good news to share. Read more
We are now entering the sixth week of the budget impasse, and regrettably, there is still no resolution in sight. What’s even more troubling is the continued refusal of the Senate Majority to return to Harrisburg and fulfill their most fundamental responsibility: governing. This sustained absence is not just a dereliction of duty, it’s a betrayal of the people who elected them to serve. Read more
As summer continues, and we remain waiting for the Senate to return to Harrisburg to continue movement with the budget, our office remains hard at work—and I’m excited to share a few meaningful updates from Harrisburg and beyond! Read more
While gridlock in Harrisburg continues, the PA House is doing what Pennsylvanians expect, leading with purpose and delivering results. This week, we advanced a balanced, responsible budget through bipartisan cooperation. We cut $1 billion from the governor’s original proposal while investing in the things that matter most. Read more
One of the greatest privileges of serving our community is meeting with the incredible advocates who come to speak up, share stories, and push for the changes we need. Recently, I had the opportunity to meet with several passionate groups and individuals doing the hard, hopeful work of shaping a better future for all Pennsylvanians. Read more
Adventure was calling, and wow, did Western Pennsylvania deliver! Preceding budget month I went on an unforgettable journey with the House Tourism, Recreation, and Economic Development Committee, and I am excited to share the highlights. Day 1 we headed off to Fayette County, south of Pittsburgh, and kicked our tour off underground (literally!) at Laurel Caverns, PA’s largest cave system, with over four miles of passages and a thriving ecosystem. Even more exciting: this awe-inspiring wonder is on track to become our 125th state park, and the first underground one! Big thanks to David Cale, owner and longtime advocate, who guided our tour and whose vision and generosity are making this state park designation possible. Read more
I thought I knew the Capitol Complex—until I recently explored it with fresh eyes! Have you ever visited the State Library or the PA State Museum? If not, let me tell you, you’re in for a treat! These spaces are packed with incredible history, artifacts, and exhibits that tell the story of our great state. Read more
“Hundreds of Korean Americans who became naturalized U.S. citizens served bravely alongside American troops during the Vietnam War, yet many have been denied access to the benefits they deserve,” Cerrato said. "This legislation honors Korean American veterans’ courage and strives to uphold Pennsylvania’s commitment to all who have served alongside us in times of war." Read more
