May 9 e-mail: Celebrating community, culture & education

Dear Friends,

There have been so many incredible meetings and events lately, so I am continuing where I left off last week sharing more snapshots of my recent events in Montgomery County, celebrating the vibrant community we call home.

Championing Education at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit

I was honored to attend the Annual Legislative Meeting and Press Conference, a vital forum where Montgomery County legislators and education leaders tackle the pressing issues in public education. During the event, we discussed the recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling, which highlighted our state's failure to meet its constitutional obligation to adequately fund public schools. This landmark decision underscores the urgent need for equitable funding to ensure every student has access to quality education, regardless of their zip code.

Additionally, we addressed the ongoing need for cyber charter reform, a critical issue that could save our districts millions of dollars. By implementing thoughtful reforms, we can redirect these funds to better support our students and schools. It’s inspiring to see so many dedicated individuals coming together to shape a brighter future for education in our state.

A Cultural Feast at the 36th Annual International Spring Festival

The International Spring Festival at North Penn High School was nothing short of spectacular! From the dazzling “Parade of Nations” to captivating live performances, mouthwatering international cuisine, and interactive exhibits—it was a heartwarming celebration of our community’s rich diversity. If you didn’t make it this year, mark your calendar for next time—this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Celebrating Unsung Heroes at Blair Mill Elementary

I had the privilege of joining Blair Mill Elementary’s Volunteer Breakfast, where we honored the incredible volunteers who are the backbone of our school community. Their dedication and passion make an immeasurable difference in the lives of our students. A huge thank-you to the school staff for hosting such a meaningful and delicious morning!

These moments remind me of the strength, generosity, and inclusiveness that define Montgomery County. I’m grateful to connect with so many inspiring individuals as we work together to make our community an even better place to live, learn, and grow.

Thank you for allowing me to represent and serve you. As always, I’m here to listen to your concerns and ideas. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to hear from you!
