Jan. 24 e-mail: Every Child Deserves Dignity and a Warm Bed

Dear Friends,

It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the untimely passing of my dear friend and esteemed colleague, Representative Matt Gergely, last Sunday. Pennsylvania has lost not only a dedicated legislator, but an exceptional human being.

Matt was, above all, a devoted father and husband. My heart aches deeply for his family as they navigate this immense loss. He was a thoughtful, well-liked, and respected member of our legislature, known for his unwavering commitment to serving his community. His dedication to public service began in his beloved hometown of McKeesport, where he tirelessly worked to improve the lives of his neighbors. Upon being elected to the state House, he continued to champion the causes of Pennsylvania’s working families and children, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and advocacy.

Please keep Matt’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as they learn to navigate life without him. While my heart breaks for the loss of my friend and colleague, I will cherish the memories we shared and hold them close to my heart. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Every Child Deserves Dignity and a Warm Bed

I was fortunate enough to return to visit One House at a Time to drop off all the donations we collected and get an update on all the amazing work they are doing for our community. Their dedication to providing support and resources to children in need is truly inspiring. ????

One House at a Time is committed to ensuring that every child has a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment to grow up in. They provide essential bedding items for children aged 2 to 17, ensuring that no child has to sleep on the floor but can instead feel safe and secure in their own bed. ????

A huge thank you to everyone who has generously donated new and gently used children's books and stuffed animals. Your contributions make a world of difference! ???? These donations not only bring comfort and joy to children, but also support their educational growth and emotional well-being.

While we still need new/gently used stuffed animals and children's books, the items of greatest need right now are warm blankets and older children's books (Ages 12-17). So, if you are able, we'd be happy to accept your donations to get them to the children who need them the most.

Reminder: Our office is a year-round drop-off location for such donations. Let's continue to support this wonderful cause and bring comfort to more children! ??

Additionally, volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated. If you're looking for a meaningful way to spend your time, I highly recommend reaching out to them. Your efforts can make a profound difference in the lives of these children and help build a stronger community. ??????

?? Inspiring Visit to The Quaker School at Horsham! ??

I was truly impressed by their commitment to nurturing each child's potential and providing individualized support. Their innovative approaches and dedicated staff create a safe and empowering environment for every student. ????

Understanding the unique needs and successes of schools like The Quaker School is crucial as we work towards inclusive and supportive education for all. I'm committed to advocating for the resources and support needed to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive. ??
