MT. LEBANON, April 2 -- State Rep. Dan Miller along with Sen. Wayne Fontana, Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey, Rep. Jess Benham and others, are proud to announce that Steeler great and Purple Heart recipient, Rocky Bleier, will be the first-ever parade marshal for the South Hills Memorial Day Parade. “The South Hills Memorial Day Parade is an important community event and the largest Memorial Day parade in western PA,” said Miller, D-Allegheny. “That’s why I am so excited to join with veterans, community members and Mt. Lebanon’s own Rocky Bleier, to make sure that our parade tradition continues this year stronger than ever.” Bleier will be the special guest at Thursday’s parade kickoff event, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 3 at the Historical Society of Mt. Lebanon. The parade has been operated by the South Hills Memorial Day Parade Association for over 90 years, and organizers hope to grow the parade, community support and volunteers this year with the addition of Rocky Bleier. “Freedom isn’t free, and those who served our nation and paid the ultimate price must always be remembered,” Fontana said. “Our Memorial Day Parade unites Brookline, Dormont and Mt.
