Kulik announces more than $229,000 in state funding to support local first responders

CORAOPOLIS, Feb. 18 – State Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Allegheny, announced today that more than $229,000 in state grants were awarded to 14 fire and EMS companies in the 45th Legislative District.

Kulik said the funding may be used toward facility renovations, equipment, debt reduction, training, and more.

"No one should have to wonder whether their local fire company has the equipment and resources to respond in an emergency,” Kulik said. “These grants help make sure that when our neighbors call for help, our local first responders are ready."

The funding was awarded as follows:

  • Kirwan Heights Volunteer Firemans Association EMS - $15,000
  • SouthBridge EMS - $15,000
  • Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department - $13,663
  • Kirwan Heights Volunteer Firemans Association - $14,899
  • Rennerdale Volunteer Fire Department - $14,281
  • Carnegie Volunteer Fire and Rescue - $13,663
  • Stowe Township Volunteer Fire Department - $39,518
  • Presto Volunteer Fire Department - $16,136
  • Moon Run Volunteer Fire Co. - $16,136
  • Neville Island General Volunteer Fire Department - $13,044
  • Kennedy Township Independent Volunteer Fire Co. - $14,487
  • Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department - $16,136
  • Coraopolis Volunteer Fire Department - $13,250
  • Robinson Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 - $13,869

The funding was made possible through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant program, which is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. A full list of awardees is available here.
