SUCCESSFUL SHRED EVENT

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Burkett Sports Complex for my free shredding event. I also want to thank my staff for their hard work and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office for collecting unwanted medications for Project D.U.M.P.

If you weren’t able to make it out to this one, save the date for Saturday, October 3. I’ll be holding my fall shredding event at the Bridgeville Fire Hall.

DELIVERING FOR YOU

I was in Harrisburg last week, where my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve communities:

  • HB 2150 – Requires data centers to disclose the nature of their operations and report energy and water usage to the state.
  • HB 2151 – Gives communities an optional zoning approach for data centers.
  • HB 1558 – Requires baby diaper changing stations in new or fully renovated public restrooms, including men's restrooms.
  • HB 1706 – Helps school sports coaches identify signs of mental health distress or illness in student athletes.
  • HB 2333 – Updates utility law to strengthen customer assistance programs for those who fall behind on payments.

We also sent an outline of a budget over to the state Senate, doing our part to help avoid another lengthy impasse. I will be sure to keep you updated as the budget process moves along.

AROUND THE CAPITOL

As the chair of the House Game and Fisheries Committee, I partnered with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for Fly Fishing Day at the Capitol! It was a great opportunity to learn the basics of fly fishing, including learning about equipment and flies along with an outdoor casting practice. Thank you to the good folks from Fish and Boat for the lessons!

I also had the pleasure of meeting with Pitt Pharmacy students, who are also 2022 Montour graduates!
