More than $2 million in state grants awarded for parks and trail projects, an opportunity for student artists and more

ANOTHER $2 MILLION IN GRANTS FOR THE DISTRICT

Parks and trail projects in Bridgeville, Collier Township and Robinson Township are receiving state funding, thanks to recent grant awards I advocated for.

  • $1.5 million for Settlers Cabin Park, to renovate pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts; a new comfort station, pavilion; improved walkways, access drive, and parking; utilities; ADA access; landscaping; and more.
  • $290,000 for Chartiers Park, including lighting, utilities, ADA access, landscaping, and more.
  • $250,000 for Collier Park, including play equipment, safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping, and other site improvements.
  • $75,000 to design the rehabilitation of Panhandle Trail Bridge No. 4.

Parks give our families a place to get outdoors close to home, so I was proud to support funding for these projects.

OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENT ARTISTS

Allegheny County students have a chance to design the county’s next “I Voted” sticker.

The Allegheny County Elections Division is accepting submissions for its second “I Voted” sticker contest. The winning design will be featured on stickers available to voters during the 2027 primary and general elections.

The contest is open to Allegheny County students in grades 9–12. Designs must:

  • Include the phrase “I Voted”
  • Fit a 2-inch circular design
  • Be nonpartisan
  • Avoid copyrighted images and trademarks
  • Include parent or guardian consent for students under 18

Entries must be submitted electronically by December 31. The top 10 designs will be selected for public voting in January.

Students interested in participating can find the full contest rules and submission information here.
