SAVE THE DATE FOR MY FREE SHRED EVENT

I hope to see you at my FREE document shredding event on Saturday, April 18, at Burkett Sports Complex. This is a great opportunity to clear out old paperwork and have it securely shredded on site to keep your personal information safe.

Don’t forget to bring any unwanted or expired medications for the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office Project D.U.M.P. to collect for safe disposal.

TAX DAY IS APRIL 15 — SEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR THE WORKING PENNSYLVANIANS TAX CREDIT

The April 15 tax-filing deadline is approaching. I want to share a reminder about The Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, the new $193 million program that puts money back into the pockets of hardworking families who qualify for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit.

The WPTC may return up to $805 when you file your state taxes. For details and to see if you’re eligible, please visit pa.gov/WPTC.

If you qualify for the federal Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit, you may also be eligible to claim the Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit when filing your Pennsylvania Personal Income Tax Return.  This credit can range between $600 and $2,100, depending on your income level and the number of your dependents.

MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE

Pennsylvania’s primary election is May 19, so now is the time to make a plan to vote.

First, make sure you’re registered to vote by the May 4 deadline or check your registration status.

If voting in person doesn’t fit your schedule, mail-in ballots are a simple, safe, and secure way to make sure your voice is heard. Request yours by May 12. Fill it out then return it by mail, drop it at a ballot return site, or submit it at the Allegheny County election office. Ballots must be received by the county elections office by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

If you are voting in person on May 19, look up your polling place so you know where to go.
