GET REAL ID READY

PennDOT is holding special REAL ID Days at the Bridgeville Driver License Center (1025 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA) on April 14, April 28 and May 5 to help Pennsylvanians get their REAL ID.

While getting a REAL ID is optional, starting May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant license or another form of acceptable ID (like a passport or military ID) will be needed to:

  • Board domestic commercial flights.
  • Enter military bases.
  • Enter certain federal facilities that require a federally acceptable form of ID.

Learn more about REAL ID Days here.

You'll still be able to get a REAL ID after May 7. If you don’t already have a flight scheduled or have no need to visit a federal government building after May 7th your regular PA Driver License or non-driver's ID will keep working just fine and you can upgrade to a REAL ID as soon as it’s convenient for you.

HELP KEEP PRT RUNNING

I have spoken to many people, or received emails or phone calls, about the possible changes for our regional transit service.

I want to make sure that you know that the Pittsburgh Regional Transit's Board of Directors has opened a public comment period to gather feedback on potential service reductions and fare increases. These changes are scheduled to take effect in February 2026. The public comment period runs through June 18.

PRT has announced potential service cuts next year unless additional state funding is secured.

Our regional transit service is essential for so many in our local communities. I believe that some of the potential cuts would be devastating to many in our area.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking additional funds from the state. Any increase in funding will be the result of the budget negotiations that occur every year, and which involves so many issues, from education to transit to infrastructure to all else.

I encourage you to offer your comments to Pittsburgh Regional Transit. Let them hear from you on the proposed service reductions and the possible fare adjustments.

Your feedback can be submitted to PRT in the following ways:

  • Taking this online survey.
  • Completing a paper survey at PRT’s Downtown Service Center, located at 623 Smithfield St., Pittsburgh.
  • Calling the public comment inbox at (412) 566-5525.
  • Writing to Pittsburgh Regional Transit, Attn: Funding Crisis, 345 Sixth Ave., Third Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
  • Attending one of three upcoming public hearings, the first coming up on April 29. Visit this page for hearing details and other information.

Visit this page to learn more about how to make your voice heard to PRT.

I also encourage everyone who is concerned about projected PRT service cuts and rate hikes to contact our leaders in the state Senate and urge them to support more funding.
