Thank you to the good people at Achieva for inviting me to tour their packaging facility in Bridgeville.  Achieva provides advocacy, employment, and other programs and services to empower people with disabilities, help them fulfill personal goals, and lead fulfilling lives as members of the community.

The state Department of Human Services launched a new PA Navigate feature helping SNAP recipients find volunteer opportunities and meet federal work requirements. Under updated federal rules, eligible participants must work, volunteer, or participate in education/training for 20 or more hours weekly to maintain benefits. The tool lets users search for local roles, connect with organizations, and track hours.

SNAP recipients can visit pa-navigate.org to find volunteer opportunities and learn how to report their hours. Questions can be directed to local County Assistance Offices or DHS’ Customer Service Center at 877-395-8930.

Applications are now open for the PA House of Representatives Scholarship Program, administered through The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This program awards two four-year scholarships annually to graduating Pennsylvania high school seniors. Each scholarship covers one semester of tuition per year at a State System of Higher Education institution. Recipients must maintain eligibility requirements throughout all four years.
