Tonight! Learn more about our goals for Legislative District 161

Hi Neighbor,

I hope you had a nice holiday weekend. I spent time at Memorial Day services in Brookhaven and Aston honoring the veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives for our country. I’m grateful that Delaware County celebrates Memorial Day with so many meaningful ceremonies to remember our veterans.

Tonight, you have the chance to join me, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, state Sen. John Kane, and Delaware County Executive Director Barbara O’Malley to hear updates about our goals in Harrisburg and how recent federal actions could impact Pennsylvania. And we’ve saved time for YOU to ask questions and voice concerns. We’d love to see you there! The event is at Meagher Theater located in the Bruder Life Center of Neumann University.

Registration is requested in advance - you can register here.

Don’t Forget – We’re looking for summer interns!

Know a college student looking for an internship over summer break? We’re hiring summer legislative interns for my district office in Brookhaven. All interns are paid and schedules can be built around the end of spring semester and the start of fall semester. We’re accepting resumes by email at RepKrueger@pahouse.net, or you can give us a call for more information.

Memorial Day in the Community

Brookhaven Memorial Day Ceremony

I started my Memorial Day weekend in Brookhaven Borough with a Thursday night ceremony organized by American Legion Post 94. I joined Mayor Leslie, The Knights of Columbus, the Brookhaven Boy and Girl Scouts, the Notre Dame Players and members of the community to honor our veterans who gave their lives for our freedom.

American Legion Post 926 Memorial Day Ceremony

On Memorial Day, my staff and I joined American Legion Post 926 in Aston Township for their annual parade and ceremony.

We were proud to stand alongside the Aston Township Police Department, Aston Twp. Fire Dept, the Penn-Delco School District Sun Valley High School Marching Band and Color Guard, Boy Scout Troops 292 and 225, Girl Scout Troop 528, the Women's Auxiliary Post 926, and the St. James Choir.

Following the parade, American Legion Post 926 held a moving ceremony to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Let us never forget their sacrifice and courage.

Congratulations to Kristen Ogogo
on a full scholarship to Princeton University

Last week, I was honored to present a citation to Kristen Ogogo, a senior at Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, in recognition of her outstanding academic and community achievements. Kristen has been awarded a full scholarship to Princeton University through QuestBridge.

Congratulations to Kristen and her family on this incredible achievement!

Addressing Substance Abuse Disorders in Delaware County

Last week, Dr. Latika Davis-Jones, Secretary of the PA Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, visited Delaware County to meet with local agencies and government officials, to discuss treatment and support services for individuals living with substance use disorders.

The visit included several stops operated by MVP Recovery. Among them were the S.T.A.R. Center, Delco’s first and only 24/7 behavioral health urgent care facility, and a recovery house that is part of the largest network of DDAP-licensed recovery homes in PA.

Programs like these are expanding access to safe and effective care in battling substance use disorder.

Girl Scout Troop 53383 Visit

After hosting two of their older Scouts on the House floor in Harrisburg recently, I was excited to meet with Girl Scout Troop 53383 in Media to talk about the role of a state legislator and how legislation and laws are created. The scouts asked thoughtful questions, and it was a pleasure to share insights into the legislative process.

It’s always inspiring to engage with young leaders who are curious about civic engagement and how they can make a difference in their community.

Congratulations to Eagle Scout Ian Cheshire!

Last Thursday, I was honored to present a citation to Ian Cheshire, of Troop 277, for earning his Eagle Scout rank.

Ian's project consisted of building flower beds at the Hallie Jackson Butterfly Sanctuary in Brookhaven Borough. Congratulations to Ian, his family, and his Troop Leaders on this amazing accomplishment.

Grant opportunities!

Ridley School District Grant Award

Congratulations to Ridley School District for being awarded a $16,889 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to promote environmental stewardship across PA!
