Data Center bill passes House and more!

Dear Neighbor,

It was another busy week in Harrisburg as we worked to pass several bills, including more legislation concerning data centers.

I voted for House Bill 2246, which would require covered data center projects with substantial water needs to proactively inform the state prior to construction. Reporting water usage will allow our local governments to assess potential impacts of data center projects and make sure that our communities keep their proper water supplies.

With data centers rapidly expanding in the Commonwealth, we need to do everything possible to safeguard our environment, including our freshwater. I hope the Senate considers this bill and helps keep our water supply safe and abundant.

Also in Harrisburg, the Intergovernmental Affairs & Operations Committee held a public hearing regarding daylight saving time legislation. House Bill 119 would end the observance of daylight saving time in Pennsylvania and establish a year-round standard time, and we took testimony from several experts on the subject. I appreciate everyone who took their time to speak!

Step by Step Visit

I recently had the chance to visit Step by Step Learning Center. I read “Arlo Draws an Octopus” by Lori Mortensen, and we talked about how it’s important to finish something we start, even if it doesn’t look exactly how we wanted it to. We also chatted about animals we like, Earth Day, and future career goals.

As usual, I had a lot of fun. I always look forward to spending time with my youngest constituents and their teachers.

New Food Pantry in Prospect Park Square

On April 18th, I attended a ribbon cutting for Loaves & Fishes, celebrating their new food pantry in Prospect Park Square. Loaves & Fishes has been helping the Philadelphia area since 2001, and I appreciate their dedication to addressing the needs of our neighbors.

Sharon Hill Elementary Letters

I recently received these wonderful letters from the third- and fourth-grade students at Sharon Hill Elementary. These students, whom I read to in March, sent along beautiful pieces of art, which I was able to hang up in the office. Thank you again to these students for their time and creativity.
