This week, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve our communities: We protected workers by allowing them to collect unemployment compensation benefits if their unemployment is due to a stoppage of work because of a labor dispute (HB 145). We’re supporting safe school infrastructure by creating a school facilities inventory within the PA Department of Education (HB 1701). We’re modernizing our state liquor laws and supporting businesses by allowing businesses with liquor licenses to have premixed cocktails on tap, just like beer (HB 1702). Read more
PA Legislative Latino Caucus Chair Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz welcomed her House and Senate colleagues to the Capitol Rotunda to honor the contributions of Latinos and Hispanics in the Commonwealth. A recent House resolution names Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, 2025 as Hispanic Heritage Month in PA. Cepeda-Freytiz says that this month is about more than celebration - it's about spreading equity, opportunity and belonging to every corner of the state. Read more

I joined the House Policy Committee this week to discuss the destigmatization of mental health struggles. We discussed various types of breakthrough treatments and heard testimonies about the lives that these treatments have saved. Read more
This week I joined my colleagues in the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Energy Committees to discuss sustainable agriculture and anaerobic digesters. Brett Reinford gave us a tour of his dairy farm on which he built an anaerobic digester. Read more
Every year as legislators, our job is to deliver an annual budget. The Senate Republicans are failing to show up to do their jobs. The House has sent over five bipartisan bills with our proposed budget. The House has voted several times to send a budget and funding over to the Senate, and the Senate has not come in to do this important work; they have remained on summer vacation. This didn’t have to happen; this shouldn’t have happened. Read more
Rep. Amen Brown hosted a House Majority Policy Committee hearing in Philadelphia this week to discuss food insecurity. As members, we heard testimonies from residents and organizations on the need to address food insecurity for all Pennsylvanians. In Pennsylvania, 1.7 million people are facing food insecurity. This week, I joined the Policy Committee for a tour and roundtable hosted by Rep. Takac to discuss rural jobs tax credits. This event was hosted at CENTROID, a small business started by two Penn State University graduates who have since built an advanced CNC manufacturing company that serves customers worldwide.
