“Bullying is underreported and often unaddressed in any meaningful way,” said Burns, who introduced similar legislation in the past. “When it’s not addressed, bullying can escalate quickly from taunts and hurtful online posts to physical assaults and -- in worst cases -- suicide. Holding students, parents and school officials at all levels accountable is the only way to put an end to this scourge.” Read more
Noting that Johnstown’s current population has plummeted to “well under half” of what it was 50 years ago, giving it “far more public housing than small cities of comparable population, Burns wanted to know: “Is there a path for cities in Pennsylvania to reduce the number of public housing units within city limits? “This amendment goes hand in hand with my American Made Jobs Plan, which would require American-made products to be used in taxpayer-funded projects,” Burns said. “If taxpayers are paying for these projects, then it should be produced by American workers – and my amendment does just that.” Read more

“This state grant through DCNR is specifically for projects like this,” Burns said. “Securing this new funding will allow Westmont Borough to obtain a master site development plan for the 63-acre Ridge Park in Upper Yoder Township so residents can get the most out of this beautiful region.” Read more
“Whenever voter ID has been suggested in the past, I broke ranks, stood my ground and voted my belief that voter ID was needed to allay fears of election fraud and guarantee election integrity,” Burns said. “Now, the winds are changing, and more legislators are following my lead and supporting voter ID as a way to instill trust in our election process.” Read more
“I voted to cut these taxes because offering tax credits will spur economic activity, while providing business tax reforms will strengthen our business climate,” he said. “We need to create a welcoming business climate to create jobs, and these cuts can help do that.” Read more
“Grants of up to $8,000 are available from this program, which will reduce project costs and increase a business’s return on investment,” said Burns, D-Cambria. “I encourage any small business who has undertaken an energy efficiency, pollution prevention or natural resource conservation project to apply.” Read more
