Fall is in full swing in Montco, and there are so many events and activities in our communities to get us all into the spirit of fall and Halloween. Our office has been busy participating in fall festivals and trunk-or-treats and we always enjoy talking to our neighbors at these fun events. Thank you to everyone who came to our Fall Fest at Merrymead Farm! It was a perfect fall evening, and I was happy to chat with so many of our neighbors. We enjoyed hayrides, a corn maze, and other fall activities. We also made s’mores and enjoyed Merrymead’s famous ice cream. Our special guest, Sec. Russell Redding from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, reminded us of the importance of farming and its impact on our communities. Read more

This week I spoke with members of the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association about the PA House's recent actions on a responsible tax cut plan that supports working families, businesses and communities. This $1 billion tax cut plan, which passed the House last week, will make Pennsylvania more competitive and prosperous while strengthening our workforce by including earned income tax credits for working families and a dependent care tax credit to make childcare more affordable. I joined my House and Senate colleagues to play in the Capitol All-Stars Softball Game this week, an annual bi-partisan charitable game to raise money for the fight against hunger. It was east vs west -- Youse vs Yinz -- playing under the lights of FNB Field in Harrisburg, and Youse took home the title again this year. Now in its 11th year, the annual event has raised nearly $450,000 for Hunger-Free Pennsylvania and Feeding Pennsylvania, which are helping fight hunger in every community, including ours! Read more
I was honored to participate in a POW/MIA Flag Raising Ceremony at Skyview Upper Elementary School. The flag will fly at all Methacton School District schools. The POW/MIA Flag states "You are not forgotten." It is a powerful reminder of the heroes who defended our freedom but have not returned home. An estimated 80,000 service members remain missing. Thank you to everyone who came to our Family Fair this week! It was wonderful to see so many families and neighbors enjoy an evening at the Elmwood Park Zoo and access important resources from our 70+ vendors. I also want to thank Elmwood Park Zoo for being such a gracious host and our many vendors who provided a wealth of state and local resources to keep our neighbors informed. I also appreciate Phillies Community Ambassador and 1993 National League Champion Milt Thompson for being generous with his time and for taking photos and signing autographs. Read more

A month after the House and Senate approved the state budget, the Senate has finally taken the last administrative step of signing the document and sending it to Governor Shapiro for his signature. The governor signed the bill while vetoing an unagreed to private school voucher program. Now, our public schools, county human services, and other critical programs will receive critical state funding to operate without interruption. Read more
School may be out for the summer, but Norristown Area School District continues to support students in need of nutritious meals. Rep. Greg Scott and I recently stopped by their weekly meal kit distribution. Thank you, Superintendent Chris Dormer, for the invite! Rep. Scott and I were happy to support the program with $150,000 in funding to ensure that students have access to good nutrition through the summer. Read more

Our communities thrive because we have so many great services. I'm always appreciative of our first responders, many of whom volunteer their time to put their lives on the line when there is a fire emergency. That is why it's important that we all support our local first responders, including our volunteer-led fire departments. I recently visited Norriton Fire Engine Company to check out their new electronic sign. We are so appreciative of their service to our community. And the sign looks great! I was happy to help secure funding for the signage. Read more
Thank you to everyone who came out to last Saturday's free document shredding event, co-hosted by Rep. Joe Webster and me. We were both pleased to help our neighbors protect their identity by safely disposing of sensitive and unwanted documents. School may be out for summer, but college students across our area are getting to work at summer internships. We’re fortunate to have four interns this summer.
