Reps. Bradford and Scott announce $1.8 million awarded to Norristown School District

NORRISTOWN, March 15 – State Reps. Matt Bradford and Greg Scott today announced that Norristown Area School District was awarded $1.8 million to support the district’s efforts to create a safe and healthy learning environment for students. This funding, part of $39 million that was awarded to 36 school entities across Pennsylvania, was awarded through the federal Bipartisan Safer Communities Act Stronger Connections Grant. Norristown Area School District can use the funding to promote the social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being of students and staff; address family and community engagement; and promote equitable and inclusive policies and practices. “Students deserve to learn and grow in a school setting that is safe, supportive and inclusive,” said Bradford. “This funding will give Norristown Area School District added resources to ensure that students can focus on learning and teachers and staff can focus on educating and fostering a positive learning environment. I joined Variety to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of their newly constructed 3,000-square-foot multi-purpose cabin. I also got an update on Variety’s plans to renovate their gym and all-abilities athletic field. I’m so happy to have helped secure critical state funding for these projects, which will allow Variety to continue to serve our community and provide incredible programs and activities for children and adults with special needs! The application for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program is now open, and this year, more of our neighbors will see relief from this program. The maximum rebate amount has increased this year from $650 to $1,000, and the income limit has increased to $45,000 for both homeowners and renters. This means an additional 5,000 Montgomery County homeowners and renters will qualify under these new income limits! Read more

Last week, Governor Josh Shapiro unveiled his 2024-25 budget proposal. This plan makes key investments without raising taxes or diminishing our state’s healthy surpluses. The governor’s plan builds on last year’s historic investments in education to propose a historic $1.1 billion increase in public education. It also includes savings to school districts through a cyber charter school reform plan to better align tuition with the actual costs of providing an online education. Rep. Bradford announces $250,000 for Perkiomen Township Park development project

WORCESTER, Jan. 16 – Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Matt Bradford today announced $250,000 for a park development project in Perkiomen Township, Montgomery County. "A community park is an important landmark for a community, providing recreational opportunities for our neighbors and a greenspace to preserve our natural resources. This funding will go toward the development of a much-needed park in a community that currently lacks sufficient recreation space," said Bradford, D-Montgomery. "I'm grateful that the state is investing in Perkiomen Township's park project." Perkiomen Township was awarded a $250,000 Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program grant for the construction costs associated with the development of the Highlands/Huber Park along Salem Road. This project involves site preparation, the construction of two parking areas with ADA access, walkways, a pedestrian bridge, a pavilion, and a nature-based playground, planting of 40 trees and construction of a rain garden with bioswale and plantings to address erosion issues. Ensuring that our older neighbors have access to affordable prescription medications is critical to maintaining a healthy quality of life. Thankfully, help is available to qualifying individuals ages 65 and older through the PACE and PACENET programs, which are run by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. The Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE) and the Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly Needs Enhancement Tier (PACENET) programs provide comprehensive reimbursement coverage for prescription medications to qualifying older Pennsylvanians.
