My offices will be closed on Tuesday, May 19 for Pennsylvania’s primary election, and again on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.

Tuesday is the Primary Election!

Have you made your plan to vote yet?

Voting by mail-in ballot is still a simple, safe, and secure way to ensure your voice is heard. However, if you haven’t yet returned your mail-in ballot, it’s too late to mail it. It’s unlikely that your ballot will be received in time, so DO NOT PUT YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT IN THE MAIL.

Your mail-in ballot can be dropped off at a secure drop-box or Philadelphia Satellite Election Office. Our closest offices are at 6100 Woodland Ave. in the Woodland Village Plaza or 1835 S. Broad St. Philadelphia voters can get all the information they need at PhillyVotes.com.

In Delco, the Voter Service Center is at the Government Center in Media, but there are several ballot drop boxes near our area in Darby and Yeadon. Delaware County voters can visit DelcoPA.gov/vote for more information.

If you’re voting in-person, be sure to confirm your polling place. Remember, you are not required to show ID to vote, unless it’s your first time voting at that polling place. Be aware and report any kind of intimidation or interference at the polls, including but not limited to physical or verbal threats, blocking access, photographing or recording voters with intimidating intentions, and more.

Please report instances of voter intimidation to the Philadelphia or Delco county board of elections and district attorney. Voters should also report them to the Department of State at 1-877-VOTESPA (1-877-868-3772).

Don’t wait! Make your plan to vote TODAY!

Save the date for our 185 Community Day! Come celebrate with us at Elmwood Park on Saturday, June 6, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy great food, local vendors, health screenings, community resources, and so much more for the whole family. I hope to see you there!

IN THE COMMUNITY

Video

This week, I walked along the Elmwood Ave. Business Corridor to deliver information and resources to business owners. Most of the businesses along the corridor are owned by hardworking immigrant families who contribute to the growth and development of this community. During the visit, business owners shared concerns, ideas, and appreciation for taking the time to listen directly to them.

It’s always a pleasure to chat with young people about the imporatnce of civics. This week, I spoke with students at Richard Allen prep along with City Commissioner Omar Sabir.

People helping people! Access to healthy food right now is more crucial than ever, so I was glad to help with food distribution for our local Masjids this week.

Team 185 was out walking the neighborhood around Ezekiel Baptist Church this week to let residents know about the services my office can provide. Be sure to check out our materials if we leave something for you, and contact us to learn how we can serve you!

PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Property Tax/Rent Rebate Deadline Extended

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is now open for taxes or rent that you paid in 2025. This program provides a rebate ranging from $380 to $1,000 to eligible older adults and people with disabilities while meeting certain household income requirements. In Philadelphia, supplemental rebates provide an additional $190 to $500 in relief to applicants with the most need.

These rebates have made it easier for older and disabled folks to stay in their homes while affording groceries, medicine, and so much more.

The deadline has been extended to December 31, but there’s no reason to wait!

Apply online today or contact one of my offices to find out if you qualify and let us help you apply!

State Grants Available

My office helps city officials and local organizations connect to state grants available to help them do their important work to improve our communities and the lives of residents. You can find a list of state grant programs that are currently open for application on my website. We update this list as new programs come online so check back often.

My offices are here to help!
