Steele to host Earth Day Extravaganza Monday, April 22

CHESWICK, April 2 – As an avid advocate for environmental conservation, state Rep. Mandy Steele, D-Allegheny, announced she will host an Earth Day Extravaganza from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, April 22 at her Cheswick office, located at 1296 Pittsburgh St.

Attendees will have the opportunity to drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs for recycling and receive a reusable tote bag and plant from Steele’s office. Trees from Tree Pittsburgh will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We are all responsible for ensuring the sustainability of our planet for future generations,” Steele said. “We can help do that by taking extra steps now to reduce our carbon footprint, beginning with recycling glass, using reusable totes instead of plastic bags, and planting more trees. Through my Earth Day Extravaganza, residents can learn to become more involved in these activities and participate in a discussion on how we can address environmental issues in Pennsylvania.”

Residents may register online or call 724-826-5151.

Those unable to attend may drop off glass for recycling from Saturday, April 20 until Thursday, April 25.
