Phone-Free Schools, My Upcoming Shred Event, and more...

PHONE-FREE SCHOOLS

I’m proud to be working on HB 1814 for phone-free classrooms that allow students to thrive. The constant notifications that come with cell phone usage in classrooms leaves kids distracted, overwhelms teachers, and inhibits learning. It is vital that students get a break from cell phones while in school to get the most out of their education.

MY UPCOMING SHRED EVENT

I will be hosting a Shred Event on October 4th, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at my Cheswick District Office, located at 1296 Pittsburgh Street, Cheswick, PA 15024. Bring your old paperwork containing sensitive information, and it will be safely and securely shredded on-site.

“SUN DAY” IN PENNSYLVANIA

Pennsylvania needs to produce more energy NOW to decrease the strain on our energy grid and protect our communities from rising energy costs. This past Sunday, September 21, was Sun Day, a National Day of Action that promotes clean, renewable energy. I have introduced House Resolution 295 designating September 21 as Sun Day in Pennsylvania, highlighting the importance of expanding renewables in our Commonwealth. Read more about renewables and the state of our energy grid here.

HONORING CHIEF JUSTIN MCINTIRE

Video

I have sponsored HB 1866 in honor of fallen Chief Justin McIntire of Brackenridge Borough, who was tragically killed in line of duty. His family wants these gun conversion devices off the streets, and so does every Police Chief that I represent. 16 Blue States and 11 Red States have already passed similar legislation, and for the safety of our Commonwealth and our police force, I hope that Pennsylvania will follow.

CHANGES TO CHESWICK’S RACHEL CARSON RIVERFRONT PARK

Our stretch of the Allegheny River is beautiful, but it is underutilized. I will be pushing to direct grant funding to the riverfront at strategic points to advance opportunities for economic growth in our communities. I also recently won District 33 a PA Fish and Boat grant to do some expansion planning at a few of our key riverfront points. I will continue to work hard on behalf of these incredible community leaders to expand opportunity here. These projects will benefit the Valley for many years to come.
