MY SUNDAY HUNTING BILL PASSES THE HOUSE
My HB 1431 to lift the ban on Sunday hunting passed the House this week. With today’s increasingly busy schedules, Sunday hunting allows families an opportunity to educate their children about the great American tradition of protecting wild places, and to foster the deep connection to the land that comes through responsible and respectful hunting. I am proud to have sponsored this bill and call on the Senate to take action.

BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORS COVERAGE PASSES THE HOUSE
The House also passed my bill to require health insurance to cover medically necessary home blood pressure monitors as a pregnancy-related service. This legislation will save lives and keep our mothers healthy.

With electricity and consumer costs soaring, I met with the House Energy Committee this week discuss the need to rein in energy costs, prevent imminent brownouts and blackouts, and reduce the harmful effects of a rapidly changing climate. I will continue to stand up for our communities and make meaningful change to address our climate crisis.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Seniors for Safe Driving event today! We had a great turnout and look forward to hosting another class next year!
June 24 has been announced as the new voucher distribution date for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
Last year, the $50 in vouchers were offered through SFMNP, but due to federal cuts, the state no longer receives funds from the federal program and is only able to provide $25 in vouchers with the funds that the state helps allocate. These cuts also delayed the original date for the launch of the program.
Each eligible senior may receive $25 worth of vouchers to be spent at participating local farmers markets. There will be in-person distribution only on a first-come, first-served basis at Allegheny County Senior Community Centers.
