Delivering for You in Harrisburg, My Sunday Hunting Bill, and more

DELIVERING FOR YOU IN HARRISBURG

This week, my House Democratic colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve our communities:

We’re ensuring access to affordable health care by requiring health insurance coverage for contraceptives (HB 1140).

We’re protecting consumers by banning “speculative ticketing,” a practice that allows unofficial sellers to list tickets for sale even though they do not actually possess – and may never have - those tickets (HB 463).

We’re supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities who qualify for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program by permitting these rebate payments to be issued at any time after an application is filed and approved by the Department of Revenue instead of having to wait until July 1 or later to receive their rebates (HB 1072).

MY SUNDAY HUNTING BILL

Video

I've always been a strong proponent of allowing Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania. That issue moved one step closer to fruition this week when it was reported out of the PA House Game and Fisheries Committee and sent to the full House for consideration. Much gratitude and respect to the incredible advocates who have fought for years to see this archaic ban lifted:  Hunters United for Sunday Hunting, Hunter Nation Pennsylvania, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists, Inc.

A VISIT FROM SHADYSIDE ACADEMY

A big thank you to our students at Shadyside Academy for coming to visit me in the House chamber this week. It was a privilege to give students an insight into our legislative process.

THANK A HUNTER!

If you care about conservation and nature, you should thank a hunter. It makes me happy to see my hunting license dollars put to good use.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is doing phenomenal work managing forest and field, providing healthy habitat for our native animals.

It was fun to be out with Director Stephen Smith; he’s proud of the work his foresters are doing. He should be. In Pennsylvania, state games lands are some of the most pristine habitats we have. And it’s hunters who are funding this vital work.

The gobblers were close! So fun to talk to them. But… no clear shot. That’s OK- I will try again in the fall! ??

RIVERTRAIL REC DAY

Thank you to our community members who joined us at the Allegheny RiverTrail Park for a fun-filled day of activities. It was wonderful to have a day focused on recreation, fun, education, and safety within an outdoor environment!

CHESWICK STRAWBERRY FEST

I had fun spending time with our Cheswick community at the Strawberry Festival last week. Thanks for the invite and photo-op, Ms. Strawberry!

A NOTE TO COLORADO AND OUR JEWISH COMMUNITIES

I vehemently condemn the horrific acts of antisemitism we have seen in the US recently.

This violence is an attempt to terrorize a peaceful community. It must be universally condemned.

I wish those injured In Colorado a full and fast recovery. And I continue to carry grief for the families, friends, and community of the young couple murdered in DC.

To my Jewish family, friends, and constituents- I see you and am with you.
