NORRISTOWN, APRIL 7 – Today, state Rep. Greg Scott announced that $750,000 in grant funding will be allocated for renovations at the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library.
The grant comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries, which awarded a total of $11 million to 27 libraries across the state to improve their facilities through the Keystone Grants for Public Libraries program.
Funding for the library will cover structural, mechanical, and accessibility upgrades, including improvements to restrooms and the entryway, as part of renovations at the 1001 Powell St. location in Norristown.
The Montgomery County-Norristown Library has roots dating back to the 1700s and currently serves as the District Library Center for Montgomery County. The library coordinates programs and services for more than 865,000 county residents through library sites, delivery vehicles, bookmobiles, and an integrated online system.
“Libraries are places where people of all ages can learn, connect, and become more engaged in their community,” Scott said. “The Montgomery County-Norristown Library embodies that mission and much more, serving residents throughout the county. It’s only right that we give back and help make this space an even greater home for our youth, our seniors, and our entire community.”
