Election Updates, Cheltenham Road Closures, LIHEAP and more

I'm not sure if you've heard, but there's an election coming up in a few weeks (three to be exact). Some argue that down-ballot races are even more important than presidential elections.

Some of you may have already received your mail-in ballots. For those of you who have not sent in your ballots, please remember to flip them over. This year is a double-sided ballot year where we are voting on the retention of judges.

Pennsylvania is unique in many ways. One of those ways is our judicial system, with the nation's few specialized mid-level appellate courts. Many of you may never see the inside of a courtroom and think that it doesn't apply to you. But all of these judicial races will have an impact on state and local government, public policy, including election laws, education funding, environmental regulations, labor issues, and zoning decisions.

Monday is the last day to register to vote. Here is the link to register or change your registration. Below is information on registering for mail-in ballots, the locations of the closest ballot boxes, and important dates for the election.

Montgomery County Voter Services has multiple satellite offices for the upcoming election. The offices are open on alternating Saturdays and Sundays from October 18th through October 26th. They are open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

High Note

We applaud the University of Pennsylvania for living up to their values this week.

It was an honor to promote a change through their rejection of the federal government's attempt at attacking higher education. There are many causes worth fighting for, and we strongly believe in the University of Pennsylvania's stand in support of higher education.

We continue to support the fight to preserve merit-based education, ensuring that all students regardless of income, race, or gender, are able to have an equal footing in attending university.

Pennie (ACA) Insurance is on the chopping block

Pennie (ACA) is on the Chopping Block

Unless US Congress acts, enhanced premium tax credits for Marketplace (ACA) insurance will expire on Dec. 31st.

This means starting with open enrollment on Nov. 1st, many Pennsylvanians could see their monthly premiums increase by up to 82%.

Nearly 500,000 Pennsylvanians rely on Pennie for affordable coverage — including small business owners, gig workers, farmers, early retirees, and those on COBRA. Without these credits, some premiums could double or even quadruple, putting coverage out of reach for nearly 250,000 people.

Pennie remains the only place to get plans with:
Out-of-pocket cost caps.
No annual or lifetime limits.
Pre-existing condition coverage.

If you have Pennie coverage and want help navigating open enrollment, visit Pennie’s Help Center at pennie.com/connect to connect with local certified assisters and brokers, or call 1-844-844-8040 (M–F, 8 AM–6 PM).
