Township Events for 11/7 Weekly Update

Traffic Alert and Multiple Road Closures: PennDOT and Cheltenham Township have notified our office construction has begun and will last through July 2nd, 2026. SIGNIFICANT delays are to be expected:
- Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, westbound Route 73 (Church Road) will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Rices Mill Road and the Curtis Arboretum entrance. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue), Ogontz Avenue, and Easton Road.
- Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, southbound Greenwood Avenue will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Spruce Lane and Barker Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Township Line Road, Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue) and Ogontz Avenue.
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times, including Hillcrest Center, Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, and Curtis Arboretum. Motorists are advised to allow EXTRA time when traveling near work areas, delays WILL occur. All activities are weather dependent.

Cheltenham Teen Benefit Concert
Join us for an inspiring evening of music at the Elkins Park Library!
On Saturday, November 15, listen to the incredible talents of local Cheltenham students while financially supporting the Cheltenham Township Libraries through food and beverage sales. All proceeds will be donated to the library.
This program was created, produced, and run by teens, so please show them your support and enjoy this concert of accomplished musicians!

Winter Survival Children’s Program at High School Park
When it's cold outside, animals don’t have mittens or hot chocolate to keep them warm. Instead, some sleep through the winter, some have thick fur to stay active, and others just pack up and leave! Explore the various winter survival strategies of plants and animals and learn how nature beats the cold in this cool program. Featuring a live-animal encounter! Rockin with Rene at the Jenkintown Library
Get ready to rock and roll at the library!
Every Thursday at 10:30a.m. for Rockin’ with Rene — a fun, musical morning full of singing, dancing, laughter, and rhythm! Perfect for little ones ages 0–5, this interactive program is a hit with kids and grown-ups alike.
Bring your energy, your smiles, and your best dance moves — it’s time to start your Thursday with a rockin’ good time!

Thanksgiving Handprint Plates at the Jenkintown Library
To make each plate as special as it deserves, each family’s plate(s) will be created in individual sessions. Each session will be scheduled for 30 minutes and can accommodate up to 3 children. Please choose a time slot from the available sessions in the link below that works for your family/group!

Each child may make up to 2 handprint plates—no hands are too big or too small! As always, we can place multiple hands on one plate and adjust the design to accommodate larger hands!

Paper Shredding Event!
Saturday, November 15th, 9a.m. until Noon, at the First Presbyterian Church of Flourtown, at Bethlehem Pike and Mill Road. Please bring canned goods for families. This is a FREE event for the community and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Springfield Township.

Teen Craft Fair at the Springfield Library
Mark your calendars for the fall Teen Craft Fair and come support our local teens! Enjoy an afternoon at the library shopping with friends and family. Saturday, November 15th, 12-4p.m.

Music and Movement with Miss Sam at the Springfield Library
The library is starting a new class next week! Join them for a monthly music and movement class for preschoolers on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, November through April, at 10:30 a.m. No registration required.

Join Springfield Middle School Multi-Cultural Club
Middle School parents! Check out the MCC- Mondays after school from 2:45-3:45p.m. in the Art Room, if your child is interested in joining the Multicultural Students club. To join, email Counselor Mrs. Biase at lauren_biase@sdst.org or stop by Room 302A.

Springfield Township Snow Shovel Registry
The 2025-26 Student Snow Shovel Registry is now live! This annual tradition is a great way for Springfield Township Middle and High School students to help out their neighbors while also making some money! Those interested should sign up here.
