Church Road and Greenwood Avenue Improvement Project

Traffic Alert and Multiple Road Closures: PennDOT and Cheltenham Township have notified our office construction has begun and will last through July 2nd, 2026. SIGNIFICANT delays are to be expected:

  1. Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, westbound Route 73 (Church Road) will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Rices Mill Road and the Curtis Arboretum entrance. A full closure of E. Waverly Road between S. Keswick Ave and Rices Mill Road started Friday, February 13 for the replacement of Montgomery County Bridge 275 over the Tookany Creek, adjacent to Glenside Memorial Hall. A full detour will be implemented using S. Keswick Avenue and E. Glenside Avenue.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicles, but pedestrian access to Glenside Hall will be maintained through the completion of the project.

Available Monday-Friday from 9AM to 3:30PM

Cheltenham Township, in cooperation with the Montgomery County Office of Aging and Adult Services, underwrites free transportation for residents ages 65 and older anywhere in the Township on Mondays through Fridays from 9a.m. to 3:30p.m. 

In this “Cheltenham-only” service, Suburban Transit Network, Inc. (TransNet) transports riders curb-to-curb to any destination within Cheltenham Township boundaries, plus The Pavilion shopping center in Abington and the Jenkintown-Wyncote Train Station.

  • Riders must be registered with TransNet.
