Prescription and Over-The-Counter Drug Take Back Day

Residents can safely dispose of unused or expired medications at the Cheltenham Police Station, located at 8230 Old York Road in Elkins Park. This program helps make Montgomery County homes safer by reducing the risk of accidental misuse, overdoses, and improper disposal.

Accepted items include:

  • Prescription and over-the-counter tablets and capsules
  • Inhalers and nasal sprays
  • Creams and ointments
  • Pet medications
  • Vaping products (batteries must be removed)

Items not accepted:

  • Needles
  • Liquid medications
  • Intravenous or injectable solutions
  • Marijuana or illegal drugs

Proper disposal is a simple step residents can take to protect their households and community.

Cheltenham Phishing Attempt

Cheltenham Township has been alerted to a phishing scam impersonating the Township and requesting payment.

Please remember:

  • The Township will never ask for wire payments.
  • Online payments are only processed through OpenGov or MuniciPay.
  • Official emails will always come from @cheltenhampa.gov addresses.

The recent scam email looked like it came from a Township employee but used a non-Township email address and discouraged phone contact. This is a red flag.

If something doesn’t feel right, always call the Township to verify- 215-887-1000. The township is always happy to confirm whether the communication is legitimate.

Stay safe!

Jenkintown Receives Bird Town Gold Certification Status

Bird Town Pennsylvania, run by the Pennsylvania Audubon Council, has been awarded Jenkintown Borough Gold Certification for its work helping birds and nature.

Each year, communities are scored on projects that involve residents, schools, and local leaders while improving habitats. Jenkintown earned Gold by completing all five focus areas and scoring over 25 points.

There are 102 Bird Towns in Pennsylvania. The program is not a competition—it helps communities do more for nature.
