Munroe bill counting military experience toward CTE certification passes PA House

(Jun 09, 2025)

House Bill 1405, introduced by State Rep. Brian Munroe, would make veterans with 8,000 hours – or 4 full-time years – of service in a given occupational area eligible for Career and Technical Instruction I certification. Individuals holding CTE instructional 1 certificates are permitted to teach in career and technical education programs in public schools throughout the Commonwealth. Munroe is himself a veteran and former police officer. Read more

Munroe bill prohibiting the use of toxic PFAS in firefighting foam advances from committee with unanimous support

House Bill1261 would prohibit the manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of firefighting foam that contains toxic PFAS chemicals. PFAS, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are manmade “forever chemicals” that have been linked to a wide range of serious health issues, including cancer. Read more

 

Munroe resolution honoring fallen police officers adopted by Pa. House

House Resolution 176 honors Pennsylvania law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in 2024 and 2025. Munroe, a Navy veteran, retired police officer and former firefighter, sponsored the resolution in formal recognition of the men and women who lost their lives in pursuit of keeping their communities safe. Munroe announces formation of bipartisan Law Enforcement Caucus

HARRISBURG, April 9 – State Rep Brian Munroe announced the formation of the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Caucus at a news conference in the state Capitol today. Munroe said bipartisan initiative aims to foster collaboration between policymakers and the law enforcement community to create legislative solutions to enhance public safety and support the dedicated men and women in uniform. The Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Caucus is dedicated to advancing policies that enhance public safety, improve training and resources for law enforcement personnel, and bridge the gap between officers and the communities they protect. By bringing together lawmakers, active and retired law enforcement professionals, and community leaders, the caucus aims to strengthen public safety and build better relationships between law enforcement and the public. "As a former police officer, I understand the challenges that law enforcement professionals face on a daily basis,” Munroe said. “But it’s equally important to recognize the need for greater trust and understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
