Brian's Briefing for April 25: Events tomorrow, and Updates on my PFAS Legislation

Dear Neighbors,

As we close out the week, I wanted to share some exciting news from Harrisburg: the PFAS bill I introduced earlier this month went to the PA Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness committee for review, and they voted unanimously to advance the bill for further consideration by the full PA House of Representatives. Advancing from committee is one of the first steps for a bill to become law. This is a big win for our community as we continue to work on PFAS reform. You can read more about the bill and the PFAS issue below.

In this update, you’ll also find more details on:

  • A resolution I introduced that was adopted by the House during this week’s session
  • Our REAL ID Clinic taking place TOMORROW, APRIL 26
  • National Drug Takeback Day, TOMORROW, APRIL 26
  • A visit to Warminster Library’s “Blast Off at the Library” fundraiser
  • A highlight of Boy Scout Troop 172’s annual Spaghetti Dinner

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about state government, feel free to reply to this email or call my office at (215) 323-6997. My team and I are here to help.

Advancing legislation to ban PFAS

Video

In last week’s email, I shared in detail how House Bill 1261 positions us to transition off PFAS-containing firefighting foams and protective gear. During this session week in Harrisburg, my bill advanced from committee by unanimous vote, moving us one step closer to ban the manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of PFAS-containing foams, as well as provide safe and accessible ways for fire departments to dispose of what foam they already have.

Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice

Video

Our law enforcement officers put the safety of others over their own personal safety each time they put on their uniform. As a former police officer, I know first-hand how tough the job can be – from long hours and frequent shifts to the possibility of injury, pain, and loss. This week the House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 176, which I introduced to honor the memory of Pennsylvania law enforcement officers who lost their lives in 2024 and 2025. I paid specific respect to Philadelphia Police Officer Jaime Junior Roman, who died in September as a result of wounds he sustained in the line of duty.

TOMORROW: REAL ID Clinic at William Tennent High School

Still need a REAL ID, but not sure what you need to get one from your local licensing center?

Join us for our REAL ID Clinic from noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at William Tennent High School Auditorium, located at 333 Centennial Road in Warminster.

The requirements for a REAL ID can be confusing and we’re here to help you understand what you need and if REAL ID is right for you.

I’ll be joined by Bucks County Register of Wills Linda Bobrin, representatives from PennDOT, and staff from the office of U.S. Sen. John Fetterman.

Please note that REAL IDs will not be distributed at this event. It’s purely informational and will guide you through the steps and requirements.

Since space is limited, RSVP is required. You can reserve your spot here.

For more information about the optional REAL ID program, visit PennDOT’s REAL ID page.

TOMORROW: National Drug Takeback Day

Too often, accidental poisoning or drug overdose happens because unused prescription drugs end up in the wrong hands. This year, April 26 is National Drug Takeback Day, an annual event by the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency. Clean out your medicine cabinets and help keep others safe by visiting this site to find your closest drug collection site.

Blast Off at the Library

I recently visited the Warminster Library for the Warminster Friends annual fundraiser. This year’s space-themed event featured the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Society and a planetarium show. Libraries are a great place to learn, imagine, and grow, and I appreciate the hard work everyone put into supporting ours.

Supporting the Scouts

I love to see kids learning to be upstanding community members. This month, Warrington BSA Troop 172 held their Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser, and I was happy to stop by and see their commitment to community engagement and scouting principles.
