Guzman announces nearly $350k grant to improve Schuylkill River Trail

 

READING, Jan. 12 – State Rep. Manuel Guzman, D-Berks, today announced that the City of Reading has been awarded nearly $350k in grant funding through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to expand and enhance the Schuylkill River Trail.

Guzman explained that funding from the Community Conservation Partnership Program will support the construction of approximately 0.13 miles of trail from Riverfront Drive to the intersection of Front and Penn Streets, including lighting, ADA access, landscaping, project signage, and other related site improvements.

The grant was awarded to:

  • Reading City. - $348,500 for the development of the Schuylkill River Trail.

“I’m grateful for this funding for the development of the Schuylkill River Trail in Reading City,” said Guzman. “It will support construction of new trail segments and other improvements, creating safe and welcoming spaces for all families to enjoy. These investments help our community flourish and ensure our parks and trails remain accessible and vibrant for years to come. I will continue focusing on bringing meaningful resources to our community to upgrade and grow our parks and trails.”
