PAOLI, Aug. 4 – State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, is proud to announce that $639,400 in Green Light-Go grants has been awarded to Tredyffrin Township.
The funds will be used to upgrade traffic detection at the following intersections:
“This grant will allow the township to improve traffic management and flow for a busy travel route which connects surrounding residential communities with local businesses, access to main highways and the Paoli Transit Center, and our main public transit hub for both SEPTA and Amtrak,” Shusterman said. “These projects will mitigate the delays that are routine at various intersections due to directions and adaptive functionality being inactive at many of the intersections on the system. I want to thank PennDOT for recognizing the need for safer and more efficient intersections in our community.”
The Greenlight-Go Program is a competitive state grant program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals in Pennsylvania and is administered by the state Transportation Department. Applicants are required to provide a 20% match. Funding may be used for traffic signal retiming; study and removal of unwarranted traffic-control signals; monitoring of traffic signal corridors; innovative technologies; installation, upgrade or maintenance of traffic signal communication systems; upgrade or installation of detection systems and controllers; modernization upgrades; implementation of intelligent transportation system applications; or to replace traditional or LED bulbs with new LED bulbs.
