Veterans Breakfast Recap

Thank you to everyone who attended my Annual Veterans Breakfast! This event is more than just a way for me to honor our veterans, who sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms and way of life. It is also a way to give back to them, offering community, comradery, and appreciation.

This spectacular event would not have been possible without the time and effort of our wonderful presenters: The Phoenixville VFW Post 1564, the Valley Forge Chorus, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Erica Lierman from Dub Fitness and Dave Tatum from the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum; as well as our top sponsors: Greencastle Consulting and Novocure. Wishing all our veterans a happy Veterans Day! I look forward to seeing everyone next year!

Federal Government Uncertainty

Like you, I am concerned about the impacts our community and neighbors are experiencing due to uncertainty with the federal government. At the state level, I signed on to a letter urging the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to require utility companies in PA to maintain heating for LIHEAP users, which they’ve agreed to do. LIHEAP funding has not yet been approved at the federal level.

Governor Shapiro announced on Friday that Pennsylvania was finally receiving SNAP food assistance payments for November. As a state, PA does not have the bandwidth to fully cover these federal benefits. Additionally, Gov. Shapiro has allocated emergency relief funds of $5 million to food banks.

The dysfunction and uncertainty at the federal level is causing confusion and harm. What can you do? Get involved - support your local nonprofits, volunteer, donate to a food bank, and make your voice heard to your federal elected officials!

Community Food Drive

Join me in helping our neighbors during this difficult time. My office will be collecting nonperishable foods for the Chester County Food Bank for the foreseeable future.

If you would like to help the Chester County Food Bank collect perishable goods during this time, they accept donations at www.chestercountyfoodbank.org/ways-to-give/donate-now/.

Sincerely,
