I’m Fighting for SEPTA Funding – the latest updates

Public transit is not a luxury; it is a lifeline.

If transit stops, we all stop.

Today I joined my Chester County legislative colleagues in West Chester for a press conference on our fight to provide adequate funding for SEPTA. My House colleagues and I have voted FOUR times to properly fund SEPTA and roads and bridges – without raising taxes. We continue to wait on the Senate to come back to Harrisburg to put a transportation funding bill to a vote.

Safety, security, cleanliness, fare evasion – these challenges were all cited recently by Senate Republicans as pre-conditions to fund transit. Yesterday, in a bipartisan 16-10 vote – including my Yes vote - the House Transportation Committee approved an omnibus transportation bill that included – without reservation or amendment – these provisions Senate Republicans have publicly demanded. The bill also delivers vital funding to keep SEPTA moving, along with road and bridge project funding. I will continue to work hard to deliver adequate SEPTA funding in the state budget.
