E-Blast: SEPTA Stories, Legislation on the Move & Vets BBQ!

Your SEPTA Stories!

SEPTA isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline for workers, seniors, and students. I’m fighting for the funding it needs and urging YOU to speak up. Contact state Senate leadership and ask them to "fund mass transit.” You can reach out to Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman at 717-787-8724 or https://senatorpittman.com/contact-me/

My Lottery Bill Passes!

I am proud to announce that my legislation, H.B. 1058, has been approved by the state House with a bipartisan vote of 188-15! This bill would remove the state lottery’s profit margin requirement and increase proceeds to fund programs that benefit seniors, including the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program and free or reduced transit. Current law states that no less than 20% of the total revenues accruing from the sale of lottery tickets or shares shall be dedicated to these two programs.

This change will allow the Pennsylvania Lottery to more effectively compete with other forms of entertainment and put the lottery on better financial footing. Removing the profit margin ensures the continued health of the lottery, helping our aging population maintain their independence and quality of life.

Child Custody Bill Approved by Judiciary Committee

I am also excited to announce that my Child Custody Bill, H.B. 1412, advanced out of the House Judiciary Committee with a bipartisan 25-1 vote! This legislation would require an individual requesting a child custody modification to demonstrate a material change in circumstances since the enactment of the original custody order. Courts would still be able to modify an existing order without a change in circumstances if the court determines that the best interest of the child requires a change.
