Celebrating America’s 250th; and more

Dear Neighbor,

Last week, as a legislative member of the America 250 Committee I joined America250PA and other local officials as we unveiled an epic bell sculpture at Visit Luzerne County as part of their Bells Across PA initiative!

The ceremony was part of America250PA’s statewide public art project to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. The initiative brings together artists, communities, and civic organizations to create these unique fiberglass bell sculptures, with at least one in each of PA’s 67 counties.

The bell unveiled last week is sponsored by Visit Luzerne County and was created by Nanticoke native Kyle Stratton and is titled ‘Valley and Surrounding.’

Do you know what to do when driving through a work zone? Whether you’re a seasoned driver or just getting your permit, I encourage you to check out PennDOT’s Driver Work Zone Safety Program.

It’s a free virtual training that helps drivers learn to navigate work zones with confidence and safety. Available in both English and Spanish, the program covers safe driving practices in work zones, simulates real-life scenarios drivers might encounter, and explains work zone laws.

Election Day 2025 is Nov. 4, and you have several options for how to make your voice heard. First, make sure you’re registered – you have until Oct. 20.

You can vote in person at your local polling place; the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 4. Click here to find out where to vote. If it’s your first time voting at a new polling place, you will need to show a photo ID to cast your ballot.

If voting in person doesn’t fit your schedule, Pennsylvania also offers safe and secure Vote-By-Mail options. Once you apply, your ballot will be sent to your home. You can fill it out and either drop it in a mailbox -- make sure to allow at least a week for delivery -- or return it in person to your county election office. Get all the details here. Luzerne county-specific information can be found on their website here.

Your voice is your vote – and I want to help all eligible voters be heard this November! Of, By and For the People means that your vote is your power to make your voice heard and play a role in the direction your local, county, state and federal governments will go. Study the issues and the candidates, then vote for your future!
