This is the first time the PTRR program has been expanded since 2006, raising the maximum rebate for seniors from $650 to $1,000, increasing the income cap for renters and homeowners to $45,000 a year, and tying that cap to the cost of living so seniors don’t lose out on the PTRR benefits through no fault of their own. In another smart development, the state House has passed a bill introduced by Democratic Rep. Maureen Madden of Monroe County, enabling county jails to provide treatment access at least equal to that in the state prison system. Read more
