Pa. state Rep. Kyle Mullins joins his House colleagues in Pittston to introduce Lackawanna and Luzerne County residents to the newly expanded Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. Mullins says many residents who previously struggled to keep up with increasing property taxes and rent will now qualify for the program and see more money back in their pockets. Pa. state Rep. Jim Haddock spoke with seniors at the Pittston Senior Center to give updates to the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program and how more folks will be eligible for money starting in 2024. This is the first time the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program has been expanded since 2006. The change would allow municipalities to hire a range of professional groups to serve as managers, said Rep. Bob Freeman, a prime sponsor for one of the bills. Read more
"For smaller communities, it becomes rather difficult to hire someone in the role of either administrator or manager," said State Rep. Robert Freeman (D-Northampton County), one of the bill's prime sponsors. "Often times salaries that are requested can be tough for a smaller community with a limited tax base." Read more
