Transformative Investments Coming to Benefit 112th District
|
It’s critical that we continue to invest in projects that foster a sense of pride and security among our residents. That's why I, along with Senator Marty Flynn, Senator Rosemary Brown, Representative Bridget Kosierowski, and Representative Kyle Donahue, am happy to announce over $900,000 has been awarded to benefit over a dozen projects and local organizations. The grants awarded include:
- $65,000 for the purchase of a new vehicle for use by the Blakely Borough Police Dept.
- $75,000 for the City of Carbondale to obtain a jet machine.
- $100,000 for Dunmore School District Campus Security.
- $38,000 for the Archbald American Legion Post 328.
- $59,375 for Carbondale Little League to update their lighting.
- $120,000 for Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
- $50,000 for Hospice of Sacred Heart.
- $51,143 for Indo American Community.
- $81,000 for Trail Maintenance Equipment.
- $50,000 for Lakeland School District to install a playground for use by students and the public.
- $110,000 for the Scranton Tennis Club to make several renovations to the complex including ADA restrooms and pathways.
- $30,000 for paving of Sturges/Eynon Hose Co.
- $50,000 Jessup VFW Post 5544.
- $50,000 for the purchase of a new vehicle for use by the Mayfield Borough Police Dept.

From prioritizing public safety to supporting local organizations, these funds will make our region a better place to live; and I’m dedicated to continuing to fight for these crucial investments in our communities.

One Step Closer to Secure Retirement Plans
|
No one should have to work until their final days. That is why I am happy to announce my and Rep. Pat Gallagher's Keystone Saves legislation has recently passed the House and is on its way to the Senate for consideration. This voluntary retirement program would provide for the almost 2 million Pennsylvanian workers who currently do not have access to one through their employers.

Honoring Heroes This Memorial Day
|
This past Memorial Day, I had the privilege of joining the Carbondale American Legion for a solemn and fitting ceremony, as we honored those killed in pursuit of a more peaceful and just world, and in defense of a more perfect union. My heartfelt appreciation belongs with the guest speaker, Staff Sgt. Earl Granville of Carbondale, for his service and advocacy for fellow wounded veterans.

Each summer, my District Office had the wonderful opportunity to welcome interns into our "work family". It was during a summer internship in the West Philadelphia office of State. Sen. Vince Hughes when I learned the ropes of constituent services and knew that public service was the path for me. It's my hope that my summer internship programs prove as valuable for these young men and women. This summer, we are lucky enough to have Lea Giovagnoli and Kyle Liparulo join our team. Continue reading to learn more about our awesome interns.
