I hope you had a restful holiday season.
I’m proud to say 2024 has started strong, with Mayor Cherelle Parker being sworn in as Philadelphia’s 100th mayor - the first woman to hold the position! Mayor Parker has an inspired agenda for the city and I’m excited to have her lead! I’m also proud that another former state legislator, Kenyatta Johnson, was elected to serve as president of the Philadelphia City Council.
And congratulations to all our newly sworn-in leaders in Yeadon and Darby. I am eager to work with all of these local officials to strengthen our communities!
Delco Expungement Clinic
Delco Neighbors - Have questions about expungement and the process to have convictions removed from your record?
On Monday, Jan. 15 my office is partnering with state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams to offer an expungement clinic for Delaware County residents.
From noon to 2 p.m., Legal Aid of Southeastern PA will be on hand to answer questions and help you with the process.

Free Dog and Cat Wellness Clinic
Pets are valued members of the family and getting them the proper care can help keep them healthy.
To help members of our community ensure their dogs and cats receive needed vaccinations, prevent infectious diseases, and mark the Martin Luther King Day of Service, the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine will host a free dog and cat wellness and vaccination clinic for pet owners on Monday, January 15, 2024.
To make an appointment, people can call 215-898-4680 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. The clinic is limited to 2 pets per household.
What: Penn Vet Free Dog and Cat Wellness and Vaccination Clinic
Where: Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital, 3900 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA
When: Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2024
Details: Vaccinations will be available for approximately 200 dogs and cats. The clinic will run by appointment only.
Pennsylvanians Deserve a Raise!
Nearly 10 million Americans received a bump in their pay on Jan. 1 because of increases in the minimum wage. But Pennsylvania hasn’t had a boost in the minimum wage since 2009 - it is stuck at $7.25. Meanwhile every state around us has a higher wage, including Ohio and West Virginia.
House Democrats passed a bill last June that would increase the wage to $15 an hour, by offering incremental bumps every year to help ease the transition on employers.
Governor Shapiro has said he supports a minimum wage increase, but the Senate hasn’t considered the bill. We need the Senate to act before we can get to get this important measure across the finish line.
Tell our state Senate that is time to increase the minimum wage.
