Malagari welcomes committee assignments for 2023-24 session

SOUDERTON, March 10 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, announced his appointments to the Appropriations; Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities;  Liquor Control; and Professional Licensure committees for the 2023-24 legislative session.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on these important committees and to work with colleagues to provide bipartisan solutions that everyone can agree with," Malagari said. “These assignments will give me the ability to ensure my constituents are heard and their interests are well represented.”

The Appropriations Committee plays a pivotal role in forming recommendations for budget/fiscal-related matters and is integrally involved in the annual budget process.

The Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities Committee has jurisdiction over the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, and reviews bills pertaining to issues such as lemon laws, data breaches, consumer privacy, and contract language.

The Liquor Control Committee reviews any bills which pertain to the sale or distribution of alcohol in Pennsylvania and the Professional Licensure Committee reviews bills that pertain to positions requiring licensing for qualified employees and businesses.

“I am ready to work with both sides of the aisle and advocate for policies that will help working-class families and those who need it most,” Malagari added. “I am most excited to serve on the Appropriations Committee, where I can ensure our tax dollars are responsibly spent.”

Malagari was sworn in for his third term in January as representative of the 53rd Legislative District, which includes Franconia, Hatfield, Lansdale, Souderton, and Telford.
