Dear Neighbor,
As the weather starts to cool and students head back to school, I am grateful for the many opportunities we’ve had to come together as a community over the past few weeks. From our own events celebrating our seniors and four-legged friends to all the other activities throughout our community, my team and I have been hard at work connecting neighbors like you with resources and making government accessible.
Below, you’ll find updates on our recent events and important news about SEPTA service restorations and other happenings in our area. I hope you’ll take a few moments to read through and join us at one of our events in the weeks ahead -- details about our License Plate Restoration event tonight from 5-7 p.m. at the Telford Police Department are below!

I had wonderful time hosting my 6th annual Senior Fair with the help of my staff and Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale. Our community is full of so many resources and organizations that help serve older adults. At this year’s event, we brought 80+ of these organizations, including healthcare providers, elected officials, advocacy organizations, and more all under one roof, because we know that access matters.
Older folks are such an important pillar of our community, and at this event, we provided over 400 seniors with the resources to help them age with dignity.
|
I want to thank each and every person who showed up and made this event possible—we truly could not do what we do without you.

Senator Maria Collett and I thoroughly enjoyed hosting our very first Pet-a-Palooza this past Saturday, held in conjunction with Hatfield Township’s annual Dog-A-Poolooza. The event brought together our neighbors and their four-legged friends for an afternoon filled with fun, community spirit, and valuable resources.
|
I am deeply grateful to our partners, participating vendors, and everyone who stopped by to make this inaugural event such a success. Pet-a-Palooza was a wonderful way to close out the summer, and I look forward to building on this tradition in the years to come.

A visit from the Library on Wheels
|
I had the great opportunity to visit one of our county’s Bookmobiles in celebration of National Library Card Month. If your township doesn’t have a library, this is your quick and convenient way to access books and library resources, and they make frequent stops in our community!
|
This service is provided by Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, and they also operate several other libraries on wheels that serve retirement communities and childcare centers. Click here to find a Bookmobile stop near you.

SEPTA will restore service!
|
On Monday, the Shapiro Administration approved SEPTA’s request to shift $394 million in capital funding to support their operating budget. This means that all SEPTA services will be restored on Sunday, Sept. 14th, and SEPTA will be able to preserve this level of service for the next two years.

This move represents a responsible use of the Public Transit Trust Fund (PTTF), as it uses only uncommitted funds instead of ripping away funding from construction projects that have already started. It also avoids siphoning off transit funding for road repairs and other, unrelated purposes.
This will preserve SEPTA’s ability to move nearly 800,000 of us every day, supporting jobs, education, healthcare, and more. I applaud this effort and am grateful that a solution has been found despite Senate Republicans’ decision to leave their constituents stuck. However, I remain committed to advocating for long-term, recurring funding for SEPTA and other mass transit agencies throughout the state so they can continue to provide safe, reliable service to those they serve.

Giving Back to Our Neighbors
|
Mitzvah Circle, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides clothing and other necessities to so many of our neighbors, suffered a devastating fire last week and lost two truckloads full of supplies. To help them make up for what was lost, I'm joining my colleagues in the PA House and Senate in serving as a drop off point for donations to help replenish the organization's most critical needs.
We are happily accepting donations Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 4:30 PM at my Lansdale office, located at 100 West Main Street.
